He mentions the weather, tanks, and his dislike of people requesting his appearance on podcasts; but he also included this tidbit on future Red Dwarf and Brittas Empire:

“At the risk of repeating something I seem to have said many times over the last umpteen years, I simply do not know if/when we will be doing more Red Dwarf. Over the winter of 2015/16 when we made series 11 and 12, some common sense momentum seemed to be building, but, since then, the project seems to have juddered to a halt. In the desert of silence I do encounter the occasional droplet of positivity but that’s it. If the droplet ever becomes a trickle, I shall of course leap to the keyboard and let you know.

The Brittas position is not dissimilar. Since the promising newspaper articles of a couple of years ago and the enthusiasm of the Reunion last year, it all seems to have gone all quiet on the Whitbury front. All I can do is continue to express my desire to recreate the chainsaw voiced ogre and that is something I shall certainly keep doing.”

Making that picture would have been a lot quicker if the creators of the Smega-Drive had ever put in the tiny amount of time and effort to screenshot and transcribe (with timestamps!) all of Universe Challenge, in order to add it to the list of searchable frames. Please could you do this? And while you’re at it, you might as well add Can’t Smeg, Won’t Smeg, the A to Z, Identity Within, Bodysnatcher, and all the DVD bonus features (including commentaries). That’s not too much to ask, is it?

In fairness, it is pretty boring that all we ever do is talk about Chris Barrie’s views on insane wokery and then make jokes about Moonlights sexy details.

If only we could branch out into other threads – threads where we did a big community rewatch of the whole series as part of a giant reader survey, perhaps; or maybe threads where we talked about other Grant Naylor projects from the past.

In fairness, the site admins could get off their arses too and try and come up with a bit of content to keep us entertained – maybe a daily game where you have to guess what Red Dwarf episode you’re seeing, or maybe a few podcasts on Dwarfy stuff like the Smegazines or the DVDs. Maybe they could even get ambitious and try and create an entire searchable online repository of stills and scripts from every single episode. Fat chance. The lazy bastards.

But no. Bloody boring round here, as always.

First of all Quinn, please don’t patronise me. Secondly, it might surprise you to know that I actually agree with a lot of what you all say. I think Chris seems to have lost it big time and I feel very sorry for him (whilst also being appalled at the abhorrent views he has seemingly adopted). I just find the whole tone of this thread rather smug, repetitive and circlejerk-y. But you’re right. I shall leave now.
I was going to end this by saying that I think I’ll give this Unofficial Red Dwarf Forum a miss, thanks. But it seems that forum has now shut down anyway. Just as well, really, if it were anything like you described.

Katy, I have absolutely no issue with anything you’ve posted. Your posts are intelligent and well-written. I enjoy reading them and – believe it or not – I often agree with them. I don’t know anything about organic food, so I’m afraid I can’t comment there. My only problem is that this thread has gotten really boring and the endless memes about sexy details have LONG since run their course. Maybe you enjoy them. If so, more power to you.
