    http://www.chrisbarrie.co.uk/

He mentions the weather, tanks, and his dislike of people requesting his appearance on podcasts; but he also included this tidbit on future Red Dwarf and Brittas Empire:

“At the risk of repeating something I seem to have said many times over the last umpteen years, I simply do not know if/when we will be doing more Red Dwarf. Over the winter of 2015/16 when we made series 11 and 12, some common sense momentum seemed to be building, but, since then, the project seems to have juddered to a halt. In the desert of silence I do encounter the occasional droplet of positivity but that’s it. If the droplet ever becomes a trickle, I shall of course leap to the keyboard and let you know.

The Brittas position is not dissimilar. Since the promising newspaper articles of a couple of years ago and the enthusiasm of the Reunion last year, it all seems to have gone all quiet on the Whitbury front. All I can do is continue to express my desire to recreate the chainsaw voiced ogre and that is something I shall certainly keep doing.”

Thanks to Chris Barrie Fans for making this known on Twitter.

New user and American here, I don’t understand UK politics and I’m not sure I ever will. I understand this thread even less.

I don’t think anyone understands this thread.

I felt obliged to defend myself and show her that I’m not the ogre she thinks I am.

Alright, let’s say we all put this down to a misunderstanding fuelled by frustration and flared tempers and leave it at that.

You could have contested even a single specific point I made

Well, for sake of argument, your claim that “Non-GMO crops require much higher amounts of pesticides” does not really scan with the rest of your complaints about Organic food, as using pesticides would by definition invalidate those crops as being certified Organic, creating a false equivalence between something being Organic or just Non-GMO. A nitpick perhaps but there is a difference.

I also bristle a bit at the suggestion that “GMOs are absolutely vital to solving world hunger” when by FAR the greatest issue when it comes to feeding the world is the MASSIVE amount of food that gets wasted rather than any issues in terms of production or supply. Increasing yields does not do anyone any good if it that food just then rots in a landfill rather than reaching the people that would need it the most.

There is a fundamental need to restructure how our food is handled and distributed, no matter if that food is grown with GMO or Organic crops. Adding the trap of corporations claiming intellectual property rights and disrupting local supply chains with patents could very well make this problem even worse, which while not being an essential part of growing GMO crops, has far too often proven to be the reality for a lot of producers.

I agree with the thrust of your argument otherwise, but those two claims did stand out to me. Speaking as a food producer by the way.

Frankly I think it’s amazing that a website entirely focused on a show that hasn’t been active for nearly 3 years, which is almost certainly now entirely dead (one of the main cast going off the deep end isn’t helping chances of a recommission even if the legal stuff ever gets sorted), and has basically been somewhat to entirely crap since Out of Time aired in 93, has such an active community without the need for “I found a Smeg appliance” posts.
The official site is broken and abandoned, the official twitter barely tweets or responds, no sign of a Dimension Jump anywhere, so yeah, sometimes material is thin on the ground and everything gets meta, but unbelievably often G&T dig up something worthwhile to talk about as seen in the many other threads and articles.

Ooh, it’s been a while since we had a fight, how exciting.

Personally, if there’s a thread that I don’t particularly like but other people are enjoying, I opt to just not read it. Unless it’s the Idea for an Episode thread, in that case I make vague threats to delete it all every now and then.

Things will move on, there’ll be new in-jokes coming along to replace the current ones, and maybe the next lot will be more to your taste. In the meantime, please don’t construct straw men to insult an entire community, as it doesn’t reflect well on you.

Yeah, such a shame we didn’t elect a terrorist-loving communist with anti-Semitic sympathies. Real travesty, that. Says A LOT that he lost to Boris Fucking Johnson, perhaps the only major politician WORSE than old Corbo.

Fun fact, the word “Corbyn” has been used in precisely 26 posts on this forum, 14 of which are in this thread in the last 24 hours. But yeah, banging on about him is definitely a defining characteristic of this place.

That thread is this sites Frankenstein’s Monster. What a terrible yet incredible thing that has been created.

As someone who only recently created an account, and only really did so to keep track of which threads had updated, I’d like to use my very first comment to say that I’ve found this thread absolutely hilarious and the memes frequently had me in stitches.

I’d much rather see more of that sort of thing than ongoing confirmation that an actor whose work I’ve enjoyed since I was literally a child has gone off the deep end.
