He mentions the weather, tanks, and his dislike of people requesting his appearance on podcasts; but he also included this tidbit on future Red Dwarf and Brittas Empire:

“At the risk of repeating something I seem to have said many times over the last umpteen years, I simply do not know if/when we will be doing more Red Dwarf. Over the winter of 2015/16 when we made series 11 and 12, some common sense momentum seemed to be building, but, since then, the project seems to have juddered to a halt. In the desert of silence I do encounter the occasional droplet of positivity but that’s it. If the droplet ever becomes a trickle, I shall of course leap to the keyboard and let you know.

The Brittas position is not dissimilar. Since the promising newspaper articles of a couple of years ago and the enthusiasm of the Reunion last year, it all seems to have gone all quiet on the Whitbury front. All I can do is continue to express my desire to recreate the chainsaw voiced ogre and that is something I shall certainly keep doing.”

Thanks to Chris Barrie Fans for making this known on Twitter.

    Verse 1:

If you’re a snowflake, they will save the day

They’re liberal and PC, come what may
Without them, right-wingers would get their way

    Refrain:

    They’re humourless, boring, pompous wokebros

They won’t let one little racist joke go

    They don’t enforce traditional norms of what constitutes ‘bloke’s clothes’;

They validate the genders other folk chose

    Verse 2:

Considerate of the poor and the refugee,
Their distaste for Taiwan Tony is OTT
How can they question such a (brilliant) comedy…?

    Refrain (build to crescendo):

    They’re humourless, boring, pompous wokebros

As their response to the fantastic ‘spit on her wrist’ joke shows

Always talking endlessly about their Corbyn vote woes

I’d like to give them all a broke nose

Well that sure showed us. There’s no way we can possibly top such high-brow, intellectual comeback of such wit and adroitness. I pity the poor fool that should engage you in a verbal sparring match. Watch you don’t cut yourself on that sharp tongue of yours, sonny boy.

Most definitely finished checking this thread now, it’s quite unpleasant.

Have to say, in my opinion moaning about injokes and memes on here feels a bit like making an official complaint to the fire brigade because you didn’t like the deodorant of the firefighter who cut you out of your Fiesta when you binned it into a ditch.

With so little content to comment on, and so little comment from official channels, in jokes and memes would be welcomed if they were alone, never mind when they also arrive with articles, polls, dwarfcasts, game shows, daily games, crosswords etc.

All of which are nice distractions from Chris Barrie showing his whole, rancid arse on the internet (on topic).

Kind of a short update this month, maybe he’s finally heard some of the pushback on his questionable rants.

In a shock turn of events, this has actually come true in a March update. Not a rant in sight plus: “The most popular question I am asked continues to be whether or not there will be another Red Dwarf series or special. Well, I can actually sound quite positive on this for a change, because on the 15th February, indeed to coincide with RD’s 35th Anniversary, I did hear that we may well be a step closer to making new shows. As ever, let’s keep those fingers crossed!”

If the 2020s give us more new Red Dwarf and (fingers crossed) Sonic Adventure 3 it’ll be totally worth all the war and plague we had to put up with to get here.

Might be wishful thinking but wonder if the prospect of more Dwarf has persuaded him to dial back on his usual favourite topic for these updates.

Wow, that’s interesting.  For me the damage is done, unless he actually retracts his rant, but more Dwarf would be good regardless.  (I am very happy to be wrong about some of my previous comments.)

Nice that there is a bit more encouragement regarding new Dwarf. As CB says, fingers crossed 🤞

Maybe he’s just referring to Rob and Doug’s message, maybe it’s more than that, but either way it’s a positive update.

In this week’s episode of ‘Full Disclosure’, the podcast hosted by James “I don’t think Data in Star Trek would have been born if it wasn’t for Kryten” O’Brien, James tells guest Phil Wang that “he [Barrie] has gone a bit weird” during a brief chat about The Brittas Empire, adding “he’s gone a bit vaccine-y”, presumably forgetting to add the prefix “anti”.

If the return of Red Dwarf scuppers the 90-minute film Out Of The Red, starring the guys as fictitious versions of themselves, I’ll be fuming.

Well it’s simple, now Out of the Red just has to end moments before the first scene of XIII starts filming.

Hopefully all this talk of new Red Dwarf is just a cover story for making Out Of The Red.

Memes aside, it strikes me as really odd that the implied anti-vax stance is what stood out most to O’Brien, not the antisemitism. The whole “stay naturally healthy as possible” sentiment was a relatively subtle dog-whistle compared to the repeated ranting about a “globalist psychopath” conspiracy, which is more of a dog-air raid siren. It makes me wonder if he heard this from somewhere else than his website, like he’s spoken to someone who’s spoken to someone who’s heard Barrie speak about being anti-vaccine in person.

Oh goodness I hope not, that sent a chill down my spine.  It’s funny, to me it almost feels like it’s one thing typing it from behind a keyboard but that he may potentially have actually said it to people face-to-face makes it seem actually real.

    It is weird though.  Urgh.

James has said on his show a few times that he thinks you can nearly always guess what a person’s stance will be on multiple issues once they profess anything about being against vaccines/masks etc. IMHO I think he was just lumping Chris into a wider category on that basis.
