Still, I’m glad they’re giving more science fiction comedies a chance (shame they didn’t do the same with Red Dwarf but never mind…) And Mark Gatiss is in it. From the clips I’ve seen it looks to me to be on a Universal Soldier theme, just, well, silly. November 17, 2008 at 4:48 pm #86913 Ben PaddonParticipant My previous comments concerning the death of scifi-comedy remain firmly in play – no one in Tellybox Land is prepared to make good scifi-comedy anymore, and the ones that think they do want to make good scifi-comedy actually just want to take scifi-comedy from another medium, strip the idea of all its value and worth, and repackage it in the most marketable manner. Not that anyone’s tried to buy Jump Leads from me or anything. Cross my NDA and hope to die. November 17, 2008 at 4:54 pm #86914 ChrisMParticipant >Let me know how much this sucks. Snigger. Will do. My previous comments concerning the death of scifi-comedy remain firmly in play – no one in Tellybox Land is prepared to make good scifi-comedy anymore, and the ones that think they do want to make good scifi-comedy actually just want to take scifi-comedy from another medium, strip the idea of all its value and worth, and repackage it in the most marketable manner. You might be right… but we haven’t seen it yet. Sure, there seems to be a strong element of farce, what with the whole super-soldier theme, but a comedy slant could still work. November 17, 2008 at 5:48 pm #86918 Ben PaddonParticipant I’ll not keep high hopes. I don’t think people know how to make good scifi-comedy anymore, and the people that genuinely do have something worth producing don’t get produced because the records show that no bugger watches scifi-comedy anymore. They don’t factor in that every scifi-comedy series over the past few years, Futurama notwithstanding, has been shit. November 17, 2008 at 6:02 pm #86919 ChrisMParticipant I have my doubts it will be any good too… but I’ll give it a chance. It’s almost worth it just for the clone’s amusing ears. ;) Albeit ears can’t carry a show. Unless you happen to be Dumbo with a portable TV clutched in your trunk. November 17, 2008 at 9:08 pm #86925 ChrisMParticipant Ok, just saw it. And to get back to you- >Let me know how much this sucks. There was much suckification. The clone looked funny. And ran funny. Not particularly funny apart from that though. Oh, and there was a cute barmaid. December 2, 2008 at 11:37 pm #87223 DaveParticipant Jonathan Pryce makes it all sound a little wittier. December 3, 2008 at 11:34 am #87226 Tanya JonesParticipant I’ve just seen it too, and it sucks balls. Which is a shame, because there’s some nice acting from Pryce and Gatiss.
