I’m completely ignorant of jazz music beyond a couple of listens to Kind of Blue, but the little I caught of that documentary seemed interesting. And he’s also on Radio 2 at the moment with a three hour show of Beatles album tracks. It’s part of a season of Beatles stuff on TV and radio (hmm, can’t think why they’ve chosen to do it now). They’ve been repeating some of their previous radio documentaries: I’ve heard the Bigger Than Jesus, Paul McCartney at Abbey Road, and Sgt Pepper Recreated programmes before, but the repeat of the excellent Michael Palin documentary on George Harrison was new to me. The one about George Martin tonight should also be good. Craig’s Funk and Soul Show on 6 Music is always worth a listen http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/funk_soul/. If you, you know like Funk and Soul- which incidentally everyone should. He really makes for quite a charming presenter, no doubt down to his entusiasm for the subject matter. I particularly enjoy his catchphrases “Awooga Awooga Awooga”, “ey, ey, ey, it’s The Craig Chrales Funk and Soul Show” and copius refrences to wearing your sunglasses inside.
