    So didja see it?

    What did you think?

So far I like it. Very amusing, yet it manages to be disturbing too.

Funny BB stereotypes. Cynical pretentious middle aged guy. Dumb “do toes have bones?” blond. Effeminate ‘pseudo transvestite’ gay guy, who actually looks like a taller clone of a guy who was on the show a couple of years back (I forget his name.)

None of the characters are overly likable as people (although some are likable enough as characters.)

I wonder if Davina got a bump from that water-cooler scene. Heh.

I thought it was good. Could have been MUCH worse if you think about it. When Davina was on the rampage they should have had her scream ‘I’m coming to get you!’ but I suppose that would have blown the idea of her being a zombie. The BB setup was a great idea. They could have done without ripping off the look and style of 28 Days Later quite as much as they did. It’s as though they’ve used the same camera setup.

Kevin Eldon’s in it therefore that makes it good or does it because he was in Hyperdrive but I like to think he wasn’t in it it was his twin who doesn’t get much work kind of thing.

Quick correction to above post: “Dumb ?do toes have bones?? blond.” Ginger, not blond. (I won’t edit or it’s go out of sequence.)

Kevin Eldon?s in it therefore that makes it good or does it because he was in Hyperdrive but I like to think he wasn?t in it it was his twin who doesn?t get much work kind of thing.

Yeah, he was good in this. The character is irritating, but intentionally so.

I liked that scene with him and the ginger girl. He was blathering on to her in his pompous way about hating reality TV and being there ‘to prove a point’ (or somesuch) and she answers with that toe comment. The expression on his face is brilliant.

Anyhow next episode is on soon on E4+1. Seems they’re going for the daily format rather than per week. Doubtless the time of the season.

I thought it was great. Then again, I have been waiting to see something terrible and bloody happen to the producers of BB for a long time, so it’s answering a specific need there. Haven’t seen 28 days to compare; the only zombie movie I’ve watched all the way through is Shawn of the Dead, but I count that as 3 or 4, being a mashup and whatnot.

I haven’t seen BBUK for about 4 years, but I recognize most of these characters. It’s the same damn ‘people’ every year, isn’t it? ugh. go zombies.

Hmmm. I was quite surprised at the short length of the latest episode at 30-35 minutes. This type of programme is usually an hour including adverts. Still not long to the next one.

More of the grimness today. It’s a good idea that they’re following a storyline outside the House I think. That could get monotonous otherwise.

Still great, although I can’t help wondering how climbing a wire fence is enough to escape these creatures. These aren’t the shambling Romero type zombies. They’re certainly not bright, but they can run. You’d expect climbing wouldn’t be that difficult.

Fancy a Red Dwarf fan having issues with plot holes. ;)

    > These aren?t the shambling Romero type zombies.

No, they’re the 28 Days/Weeks/Months (yes, it’s happening) Later ones.

    >No, they?re the 28 Days/Weeks/Months (yes, it?s happening) Later ones.

Except being dead… and having white eyes instead of red… and not being angry all the time….

… but I know what you mean. And it proves my point, clambering a wire fence shouldn’t be much of a problem for them.

okay, you’re right, but I always thought it was part of a zombie’s nature to be shit at at least *one* essential murdering skill.

    From the guardian:

E4 zombie horror series Dead Set lost 300,000 viewers on its second outing, but was still a strong multichannel performer for the digital network last night, Tuesday October 28.

The second part of the drama, set in the Big Brother house and written by Guardian columnist Charlie Brooker, attracted 822,000 viewers and a 4.9% multichannel share in the half hour from10pm, according to unofficial overnights.

Aw, it deserved better than that.

    > Aw, it deserved better than that.

    A 4.9% share isn’t bad for a freeview station.

Given the weak character work, and the seen-it-before story basics, I’d say the drop off was reasonable. It’s a decent enough show, with some nifty visuals and smart touches, but it’s not ‘excellent’. Numbers-wise I’d say it was doing just fine.

*shrug* I defer to your expertise then.

I’m enjoying it (despite the cliches.) At least the freaky swimming pool bit explained the ‘not clambering over the fence’ point I raised above. (Although I guessed it was probably something like that.)

And the bucket scene. Puerile, I know, but I found it hilarious.

I’m torn about the bucket scene. I’m glad it happened to Pippa, I’m sorry it happened to me. :(
