Mashing Red Dwarf scenes together! Because we were having too much fun doing this in the Better Than Life podcast thread.

“Tonight on BBC 2, the crew of Starbug get an unexpected visitor when a teenage ballgirl sick of being abused by Lister for his own amusement escapes the Alternate Reality machine seeking revenge…!”

    Eek.

    SHITEY SPRITE

When a videogame character that Lister has merrily abused for years finds its way into the real world, the boys from the Dwarf find themselves in a pixel pickle.

The knight escaping VR felt like an assumption that VR was basically like the Holodeck from Star Trek

Do my eyes deceive me or have we another convert to the crop Dave era to 4:3 club?

Oh, I’ve been doing that for a while when mixing the classic and Dave eras. It looks weird otherwise.

I always have been, but seeing these gods over and over is making me increasingly annoyed at how far up the boom the gum lands. It doesn’t feel like it would add the weight needed, in the right place, to push the arm down.

Also, that button isn’t on a fan is it? It’s a completely different button that looks built into the table

Yes I always think this too. But even before that, it’s obvious that Craig deliberately doesn’t stick the gum to the wall properly. Worst Rube Goldberg machine ever.

If we’re going to dissect Series VIII logic again this thread will get seriously derailed.

Sort of like Godwin’s Law, any lengthy discussion of Red Dwarf increasingly tends towards discussion of that fucking dinosaur two parter (which I shall not name) the longer the discussion goes on

Yes, the natural Series VIII-ification of Red Dwarf discussions is a well-known phenomenon. It should probably be named after the person who first observed it, but failing that, we could call it Ackerman’s Law.

Please, I coined that law almost a decade ago.

Just got onto VIII on my latest watchthrough as well. Watching the opening bunkroom scene as we speak. It’s the best part of the whole series. It’s quite funny. Shame about everything that follows

It’s often faster to get an answer on the internet by being openly ignorant than by trying to look it up yourself. Who coined that one? I don’t know, so I’m just going to call it Flappo’s Law.

Thank you for the reminder! I’ll be sure to use the correct phrase from now on. In my defence though, 10 years ago was at least 17 years ago.

Moonlight’s Corollary: Any G&T discussion, given enough time, will devolve into a series of nigh incomprehensible Smegadrive memes.
