Real big Dwarf fans may remember Series 7, but only the true anoraks will remember a poorly received episode called “Beyond the Jokes”. This was a story designed to pilot the future character of Super-Annoying-Kryten of Season 8. A forensic study of the credits shows that, surprisingly, this story was co-written by a ‘Robert Llewelyn’. Studying the IMDBs I learnt that this ‘Robert Llewelyn’ is actually the actor who played Kryten on the show! A more obvious example is that famously Chris Barrie was the story-originator, script writer, script editor and set designer of the classic anti-woke satire ‘Timewave’ from the series Red Dwarf Series XII. I’m assuming that, based on this info, that Danny and Craig have also written an episode each of the show. Which ones do you think they wrote? December 10, 2024 at 12:03 pm #301040 sleepeyParticipant Danny John-Jules wrote the jousting sequence at the start of “Stoke Me a Clipper”, where the digital horse turns into a bit-pony. December 10, 2024 at 12:58 pm #301042 Flap JackParticipant There were a few episodes written by one of the actors who appeared in Backwards. December 10, 2024 at 1:10 pm #301043 Nick RParticipant Norman Lovett wrote “Blue”. If you look closely, you can see how he subtly incorporated his preoccupation with sphere-stealing: December 10, 2024 at 3:18 pm #301045 clemParticipant John McKay is just Danny’s pen name. December 10, 2024 at 3:19 pm #301046 UnrumbleParticipant I assume Norman wrote ‘Parallel Universe’ in order to get his character a bit of action, which then backfired when the ‘love interest’ took his role. December 10, 2024 at 3:45 pm #301049 clemParticipant Fairly certain these two wrote some of Series VIII as well as appearing in it. December 10, 2024 at 5:59 pm #301052 RunawayTrainParticipant How long before this thread gets scraped for an ‘exclusive’ ‘news’ article? December 10, 2024 at 7:47 pm #301054 DaveParticipant December 10, 2024 at 9:24 pm #301055 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant Danny John-Jules wrote the jousting sequence at the start of “Stoke Me a Clipper”, where the digital horse turns into a bit-pony. Are you taking the piss? December 11, 2024 at 12:36 am #301060 TechnopeasantParticipant David Ross wrote White Hole to annoy John Lenahan, and when that failed to get a rise, he tried again decades later by writing Mechocracy. December 11, 2024 at 6:12 am #301061 Stephen R. FletcherParticipant Craig Charles wrote all of Siliconia but decided to just take credit for the MILF joke. December 11, 2024 at 3:52 pm #301069 sleepeyParticipant Are you taking the piss? (It was supposed to be a joke about how often DJJ calls things “a bit pony” on the commentaries but now I’m worried it made more sense in my head 😅) December 11, 2024 at 4:06 pm #301070 Ben SaundersParticipant I understood it, don’t worry. Although I am currently listening to the Series 8 commentary. December 11, 2024 at 4:09 pm #301071 Flap JackParticipant I’m pretty sure Future Producer understood you too sleepey, he was just referencing this: https://www.ganymede.tv/forums/topic/danny-john-jules-has-updated-his-instagram/#post-283150 December 11, 2024 at 4:10 pm #301072 WarbodogParticipant Danny John-Jules wrote the jousting sequence at the start of “Stoke Me a Clipper”, where the digital horse turns into a bit-pony. Are you taking the piss? It was a slightly more obscure DJJ reference: https://www.ganymede.tv/forums/topic/danny-john-jules-has-updated-his-instagram/#post-283150 Edit: Jinx. December 11, 2024 at 4:45 pm #301074 AsclepiusParticipant Back to Earth Part III. Craig writes part of the script. You seem him do it on screen. December 11, 2024 at 5:20 pm #301075 Ben SaundersParticipant Hey @DannyJohnJules I’m much more excited for a project that doesn’t feature you than one that does. Big fan btw December 11, 2024 at 5:43 pm #301076 UnrumbleParticipant I understood it, don’t worry. Although I am currently listening to the Series 8 commentary. Well surely this is a joke? The only BBC commentary I never revisited. December 11, 2024 at 7:09 pm #301078 Ben SaundersParticipant The only BBC commentary I never revisited. I’ve been listening in bits & pieces over the past couple of weeks, but those bits & pieces became a little more spread out for Series 7 and a LOT more spread out for Series 8. December 12, 2024 at 12:17 am #301083 TechnopeasantParticipant I mean, if you count commentaries, they are ALL written by the cast. December 12, 2024 at 7:16 am #301089 AsclepiusParticipant I mean, if you count commentaries, they are ALL written by the cast. Apparently Robert’s bits are scripted by Talbot Rothwell. December 14, 2024 at 2:39 am #301116 MoonlightParticipant I mean, if you count commentaries, they are ALL written by the cast. Robert wrote all 500 parts to the story “I Don’t Remember That”.
