May 23, 2018 at 9:22 pm #232109 Flap JackParticipant But If it is a void, even if it were just “space” her own momentum from falling out of the tear would keep her moving indefinitely. That makes sense for the first time, but what about the second time? She does a forward jump, but the momentum doesn’t let her keep drifting forward until she reaches the other half of the tunnel; she falls short and plummets into non-space. There must have been an external force which caused her to change direction and fall “down”. May 23, 2018 at 9:25 pm #232110 bloodtellerParticipant the external force is merely the will of The Void May 23, 2018 at 9:29 pm #232111 Bargain Bin HollyParticipant Glad to see this thread entering the “Series VII/VIII Discussion” stage, its like puberty for threads they all have to go through it at some point May 23, 2018 at 9:50 pm #232112 International DebrisParticipant Now now, we’ve been branching out into ‘minor flaws in the classic run’ recently too. Such as this wonderful one: how could Rimmer have committed suicide in Back to Reality when the harpoon would have simply shot through his projected head without causing any damage? See? Easy. May 23, 2018 at 10:08 pm #232113 bloodtellerParticipant it was a holopoon. like in demons and angels, they have a holowhip. but this is with harpoons May 23, 2018 at 10:23 pm #232116 Plastic PercyParticipant His lightbee could be floating around the area of his head and it could go straight through it. Or whatever. May 23, 2018 at 11:17 pm #232119 Flap JackParticipant I think Kryten and Rimmer would have survived the group suicide attempt, but they might – might – have been affected by Lister and The Cat’s deaths. May 24, 2018 at 12:18 am #232122 HamishParticipant Somehow I hope the word “holopoon” doesn’t have legs. May 24, 2018 at 12:46 am #232123 Dax101Participant Presumably if it didn’t kill Rimmer he would just be living the rest of his existance in despair. May 24, 2018 at 1:12 am #232124 clemParticipant What force is acting upon Kochanski that makes her fall in non-space? What are they breathing in non-space? And how come the gelfs appear to fly their ship and fire the guns just as though they’re in ordinary space? … What the hell is non-space? Just put a neat cross through it and we’ll do the next one. May 24, 2018 at 1:17 am #232125 Ben SaundersParticipant Rimmer going out on the town to snare some holopoon. May 24, 2018 at 1:43 am #232126 clemParticipant I’ve figured it out. It’s called Non-space because you can breathe there like Jack O’Halloran in Superman II. June 1, 2018 at 8:32 am #232404 Dollar PoundParticipant why doesn’t non-space affect lister’s claustrophobia? June 1, 2018 at 8:33 am #232405 Dollar PoundParticipant lister’s claustrophia is ironically trapped in the confines of one tenuous scene June 1, 2018 at 8:41 am #232407 Dollar PoundParticipant accurately portraying non-space would have saved a lot of money requiring as it would no physically existing things whatever June 1, 2018 at 7:19 pm #232420 bloodtellerParticipant >lister’s claustrophia is ironically trapped in the confines of one tenuous scene his claustrophobia returns in krytie tv. but that was a deleted scene so i guess it doesnt count you’d think being trapped on starbug during VI would have brought on his claustrophobia though June 1, 2018 at 7:55 pm #232423 DaveParticipant And materialising in Hitler’s chimney. June 1, 2018 at 8:05 pm #232425 Bargain Bin HollyParticipant Well with Hitler’s chimney he was only there for about thirty-forty seconds before being swiftly escorted out June 1, 2018 at 8:31 pm #232427 Dax101Participant >you’d think being trapped on starbug during VI would have brought on his claustrophobia though I think its more about being boxed in and trapped. June 1, 2018 at 9:43 pm #232428 Ben SaundersParticipant It could also be triggered more by stressful situations, like carooning into the sun with zero expertise at the helm while also being trapped in an enclosed space June 1, 2018 at 9:52 pm #232430 bloodtellerParticipant >And materialising in Hitler’s chimney. do they not mention this in Duct Soup? Cat asks why he didn’t get his clasutrophobia then, and Lister responds that he simply “doesn’t always get it” June 1, 2018 at 10:06 pm #232432 Pete Part ThreeParticipant He also doesn’t get it when he’s crawling through the tunnel in Terrorform, in the very long lift ride in Stasis Leak, and didn’t seem too concerned about being put in a metal chamber for “18 months” or in an enclosed deep sleep bunk for 200 years. Maybe it’s all a big con. June 1, 2018 at 10:10 pm #232433 DaveParticipant It’s a bit like the way the time drive “doesn’t always have the ability to let you travel in space”. March 1, 2022 at 7:28 pm #272011 Future Producer of Series IX – aaaaany day nowParticipant Let’s do the maths on this. What is the terminal velocity of an alligator, anyone? My dad reckons the terminal velocity of a 2 meter, 150-200Ibs crocodile dropped out of a Heinkel HE 111 flying at presumably the highest cruising altitude of 22,000 ft averages out to about 35-40 meters per second. But that’s a big of a guess as we’re both duff at maths.
