February 24, 2009 at 11:02 pm #92520 Seb PatrickKeymaster Nope. But I posted the video last year, and didn’t want to be accused of Craig Charles-esque repetitiveness ;-) February 24, 2009 at 11:08 pm #92522 Tanya JonesParticipant I had mine with Nutella :) February 24, 2009 at 11:13 pm #92523 Mr FlibbleParticipant Nope. But I posted the video last year, and didn?t want to be accused of Craig Charles-esque repetitiveness ;-) I faxed mine to Canada. I think it’s OK with the pancake day song :) February 24, 2009 at 11:26 pm #92525 clemParticipant Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj_aHCpZl4k I had mine with Lyle’s Golden Syrup. February 24, 2009 at 11:53 pm #92532 Pete Part ThreeParticipant I’ve just got back from a pancake party. There was a lot of tossing. We also flipped some pancakes. Ahhhhhh February 25, 2009 at 12:23 am #92546 Ben PaddonParticipant I live in the US, where there is no pancake day. Gutted. February 25, 2009 at 12:24 am #92547 CarlitoParticipant Every day is pancake day in the US. February 25, 2009 at 12:27 am #92551 Ben PaddonParticipant I wish I knew someone called Patrick Day. Then every time he came into the room I could sing, “It’s Patrick Day! It’s Patrick Day! It’s P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P-Patrick day!” … I’ll get me coat. February 25, 2009 at 12:46 am #92554 ChrisMParticipant I completely missed it was pancake day. I can’t really say I ‘forgot’ though as I’ve never taken note of the date. February 25, 2009 at 7:03 am #92570 Mr FlibbleParticipant Pancake Day is a Christian celebration… How come you don’t have it in the US? February 25, 2009 at 7:47 am #92577 TheLeenParticipant Good old Christian Germany doesn’t have it either. February 25, 2009 at 8:13 am #92581 Ian SymesKeymaster Pancake Day is a Christian celebration? Well, Shrove Tuesday is a Christian celebration. The pancake manifestation of it is a British thing. February 25, 2009 at 11:32 am #92589 locusceruleusParticipant I made some with chicken, onions and mushrooms. Good stuff. *tossing joke goes here* February 25, 2009 at 11:36 am #92592 Ian SymesKeymaster SingingPotato is a pancake genius – she wrapped a Milky Bar in a pancake and baked it in the oven. It was the highlight of my year so far. February 25, 2009 at 11:47 am #92596 Ian SymesKeymaster Dutch pancakes are the best. In fact, Dutch everything is the best. Who fancies a G&T meet in Amsterdam? February 25, 2009 at 11:47 am #92594 ChrisMParticipant Ugh. Still… she might have deep-fried it. I love em the simple old-fashioned way with sugar and lemon juice. (It’s been ages since I’ve scoffed any though.) I have had fancier pancakes in Paris though in a shop where all meals were based on them. Fluffy, wrapped in stuff. Despite being called ‘crepes’ they were actually very good. February 25, 2009 at 12:17 pm #92599 TheLeenParticipant Dutch pancakes are the best. In fact, Dutch everything is the best. Who fancies a G&T meet in Amsterdam? Well, OBVIOUSLY you haven’t had any Belgian waffles yet. They beat Dutch waffles by fucking LIGHTYEARS. G&T meetup in Brussels please. February 25, 2009 at 12:52 pm #92600 Ian SymesKeymaster Does Brussels have legal brothels and brown cafes? I think NOT. February 25, 2009 at 1:10 pm #92602 TheLeenParticipant How crucial are those to a G&T meetup? Compared to waffels? :P February 25, 2009 at 1:12 pm #92603 Tarka DalParticipant > SingingPotato is a pancake genius – she wrapped a Milky Bar in a pancake and baked it in the oven. It was the highlight of my year so far. Did she find the recipe in a book on biological warfare? February 25, 2009 at 1:29 pm #92604 Tanya JonesParticipant There’s the Dutch Pancake House in Manchester, of course. And you can smoke weed on the top deck of the buses; or at least everyone did when I lived there. February 25, 2009 at 2:40 pm #92616 Ian SymesKeymaster Or you can go to My Old Dutch in Ealing, and then just come back to my house for a smoke. I’m yet to enlist a group of willing prostitutes, but I’m working on it. February 25, 2009 at 2:49 pm #92618 siParticipant I was brought up with pancakes and gravy on Pancake Day, as well as the sweet ones. We often have them with ash/stew, as well, lining the bowl. When I went to Uni in Wales, my southern housemates thought I was disgusting when I poured my gravy over them (over the pancakes, not my housemates). My argument is that Pancake batter is the same as yorkshire puddings – regularly served with the sunday roast, covered in gravy – so a pancake is essentially a fried pancake. Anyway, since I can’t have the sweet ones these days, the savoury option is the only one open to me. Surely there are other people who have gravy with pancakes? February 25, 2009 at 2:54 pm #92621 Ian SymesKeymaster Not gravy, but yesterday we had chilli chicken, veg and creme fraiche with ours. Someone in our office made his with spinach, feta and tomato jus. February 25, 2009 at 2:58 pm #92622 TheLeenParticipant I like savoury pancakes. Anything with cheese, or spinach, or both, or salmon, or curry, or, … anything… As the pancake as such doesn’t taste of much, you can combine it with anything, just like bread. February 25, 2009 at 6:02 pm #92677 hummingbirdParticipant I had peri-peri chicken pancakes followed by maple syrup pancakes. *nom nom nom* February 25, 2009 at 6:07 pm #92678 JamesTCParticipant Mmmmm Peri… February 25, 2009 at 6:15 pm #92679 Mr FlibbleParticipant There?s the Dutch Pancake House in Manchester, of course. Not for the last 3 or 4 years there isn’t. And you can smoke weed on the top deck of the buses; or at least everyone did when I lived there. It was downstairs too the other day. February 25, 2009 at 8:54 pm #92693 Tanya JonesParticipant Oh, of course, I now remember hearing that it had closed. What a shame… February 25, 2009 at 10:15 pm #92700 hummingbirdParticipant > There?s the Dutch Pancake House in Manchester, of course I haven’t been there since …. oooh, about 1989. February 25, 2009 at 10:35 pm #92702 Mr FlibbleParticipant Oh, of course, I now remember hearing that it had closed. What a shame… Yes, it was closed because the building was being demolished very soon. Still there and boarded up. February 28, 2009 at 10:49 pm #92875 JoParticipant >SingingPotato is a pancake genius – she wrapped a Milky Bar in a pancake and baked it in the oven. It was the highlight of my year so far. It was a Milky Way, but it was creally good :o) March 1, 2009 at 12:04 am #92881 Danny StephensonKeymaster That’s really weird, I read it as ‘Milky Way’… March 1, 2009 at 2:18 am #92892 ChrisMParticipant >That?s really weird, I read it as ?Milky Way?? Even weirder, I did too. At least that was the image in my mind, rather than the white chocolate bar described. March 1, 2009 at 11:01 am #92898 Ian SymesKeymaster I *wrote* it as Milky Bar, despite the fact that it was clearly a Milky Way. A Milky Bar would be shit. March 1, 2009 at 12:58 pm #92907 Danny StephensonKeymaster I don’t know, you know. I quite enjoy white chocolate. March 1, 2009 at 1:47 pm #92910 ChrisMParticipant Me too. But wrapped in a pancake…. Come to think of it milky way wrapped in a pancake…. But a couple here enjoyed it. I really can’t judge unless I’ve tasted it myself. EDIT- I went and wrote ‘milky bar’ above again. Heh. Some kind of blind spot there. Author Replies Viewing 39 replies - 1 through 39 (of 39 total) Scroll to top • Scroll to Recent Forum Posts You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
