They’re designed mainly in the style of the classic Sierra adventure games, but I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a lot of LucasArts influence in there as well. I’m working on a third currently, and this one will be entirely voice-acted. I’m sure I’ll end up drafting some friends to fill in the gaps, but if anybody is particularly enthusiastic about voicing a game character, or just wants something fun to put on their acting resume, I’d love to hear what you can do. What sort of a voice would you want for that and what’s the dialogue like? November 6, 2008 at 7:35 pm #86619 PhilParticipant The dialogue is for the most part some simple back-and-forth comedy. As soon as my artist gets the character models done I’ll post them, that way anyone who hasn’t played the game will be able to see what everyone looks like, and get an idea of the voice from that. The obvious way to do T.S. Goatman would be just kind of gruff and crabby, but I think a case could certainly be made for giving him a voice disarmingly proper–sort of like Stewie Griffen. He was evil in the second game but here he’s just kind of uncooperative. He’s also a major suspect in the central murder mystery. I’ll be working on some puzzles and dialogue this weekend so if you’re interested I’ll try to get you some examples you can read. November 6, 2008 at 7:57 pm #86620 Danny StephensonKeymaster Ok, I think seeing the characters might help the voice but I have a few ideas for some voices, however i have zero recording facilities at home so i’ll have to book the studios to get a good start. November 6, 2008 at 8:06 pm #86621 PhilParticipant I’ll upload them somehow and link to them from the development blog, but until then you can still get Larry 1 and Larry 2 here. http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/full/ The new game will look a LOT better than this, I promise, but it’ll give you an idea of what the games are, and the character types. Bear in mind these are about 10 years old and made by one man…so…well, that says it all really. That should give you a good idea of what the characters look like, Danny…most of them are carry-overs. Are you going to PAY to record yourself in a studio? That’s a bad investment! Get old man Capps to loan you a mic! November 6, 2008 at 8:15 pm #86622 Danny StephensonKeymaster Are you going to PAY to record yourself in a studio? That?s a bad investment! Get old man Capps to loan you a mic! No no no. I study in a music college. That means I get free access to 8 studios and a choice of over 70 different microphones. Yay me! November 6, 2008 at 8:27 pm #86623 PhilParticipant Whew! That’s a relief. Yes, feel free to do that then. November 7, 2008 at 2:12 am #86624 pfmParticipant > That means I get free access to 8 studios and a choice of over 70 different microphones. Mwaha. I bet Peter Gabriel doesn’t even get that. November 7, 2008 at 2:26 am #86625 Danny StephensonKeymaster He’s got a Fairlight CMI though. Bastard. November 7, 2008 at 8:48 am #86626 DaveParticipant I’ll be in touch. November 7, 2008 at 5:14 pm #86634 Ben PaddonParticipant I am writing an email as we speak! November 7, 2008 at 5:23 pm #86636 Jonathan CappsKeymaster I am wanking as you write it. November 7, 2008 at 11:27 pm #86639 Ben PaddonParticipant What a coincidence!
