It did on those things that were before your time. Not sure why it was deemed necessary but the title was added for the VHS release.

I think I’d heard about that, but not actually seen the VHS version for myself. 

I imagine it’s BBFC guidelines. They had a similar mandate on the early Classic Who DVD releases for Hartnell serials (before 2008 when they added the story title to the main menu).

I remember that happening with kids’ videos too, though not always with the same effort to seamlessly integrate it with the style and tone.
