Right, I’m a bit pissed up on booze. But that’s not to take away the sentiment of what I’m about to say.

Over my stay at Ganymede and Titan, there’s been laughs, there’s been tears. It’s made you smile, it’s made you think.

There’s often heated conversation, sometimes it spills into dispute. There’s right and wrong on both sides.

But nevertheless, in my estimation we’re all a bunch of decent, intelligent people with an excellent (and sometimes varied) taste in comedy.

I love Ganymede and Titan, it gets me through long long days at work and I love you guys.

Plus there’s new Red Dwarf on the way. Who would have ever thunked that?!

So have a beer, be happy and join in me saying – over the months, I’ve come to regard you all as people….I….met.

I think we’re a lovely bunch and after all these years it’s lovely to share such apparently esoteric enjoyment with such splendid people.

    FUCKING TWATS.

Possibly the greatest question ever asked on this site, Ms Jones. Two words – snail trail.

Yea but he pronounces it ASC-2 in the episode instead of ASCII (asskee)

    It’s written as “ASC two”.

Isn’t Son of Soup a transcript of the episodes rather than the original scripts?

    #85209

That’s what I was thinking. It definitely seems more likely that it would be read aloud incorrectly, rather than written down wrong.

Right well here’s a long shot, anyone got a copy of the script of Camille to check against? This is Top-Grade geekery happening right here!

    > Isn?t Son of Soup a transcript of the episodes rather than the original scripts?

It’s a bit of a combination. The text in all three Grant/Naylor script books came from the writers’ original files, but the scripts are reformatted for print. Certainly spellings/typos were corrected, but I also seem to remember some ‘as broadcast’ adjustments were made…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the Marooned script is missing the poker opening that was not only written, but also shot. I forget how it presents the end of Dimension Jump, but it may be the same deal. Yet the stage directions are as-written and there are plenty of cut lines – so it’s a bit of both. (As is the VIII book, in fact.)

Son of Soup definitely isn’t transcripts – it has cut material in, far more than Primordial Soup. The best example of this is some Me2 stuff that was never even filmed.

Having said that, there’s no guarantee that the scripts are the scripts as-written – I seem to recall there’s some alterations made. Can’t remember what, though!

    #85217

    Ah, Andrew got there first!

The Marooned script is missing the poker scene, definitely – although that’s in Primordial Soup, which as I recall seems to have had far more alterations made to it than Son. But I’m sure there’s some stuff like that in Son, too.
