June 23, 2009 at 10:56 am #100437 Seb PatrickKeymaster Classic case of “headline not matching story” there. I don’t believe for a second that the “eleven Doctors” thing is happening, but… show me a “denial” anywhere in that story? June 23, 2009 at 11:12 am #100438 Pete Part ThreeParticipant The bit where they say they haven’t even confirmed that they’re doing a CiN sketch? June 23, 2009 at 11:56 am #100439 Seb PatrickKeymaster Saying “nothing has been finalised” is a world away from “that thing you’re speculating about is definitely not happening”. One is a denial, the other is simply a refusal to confirm. June 23, 2009 at 12:52 pm #100440 Seb PatrickKeymaster Dear Christ, the original Mirror story is possibly the worst-written/researched thing I’ve ever read about Who. Viewers will see the Time Lords regenerating and emerging one by one from the Tardis, each with their own quirky opening line. Yes, because that’s how it works. It also contradicts itself about whether there’s ever been an “all the Doctors” story. And apparently The Five Doctors was a CiN special. And the first new series CiN special was filmed in Barcelona. June 23, 2009 at 1:34 pm #100441 siParticipant Awful, isn’t it? As far as contradicting itself goes, it might mean ‘a story with as many Doctors’. Still a bag of shite though. June 23, 2009 at 1:49 pm #100442 Seb PatrickKeymaster >As far as contradicting itself goes, it might mean ?a story with as many Doctors?. True, but even then it’s a pointlessly stupid thing to say – of COURSE there’s never been a story with eleven Doctors in, because there’s never been a story with the eleventh Doctor in! June 23, 2009 at 2:24 pm #100443 JamesTCParticipant Oh how I wish I could see 15 minutes of Colin and Paul back. I wish I wish I wish. Probably balls like. June 23, 2009 at 2:44 pm #100444 SomebodyParticipant And apparently The Five Doctors was a CiN special. Well, it was in a sense – it was broadcast on a CiN night, in the days before the current CiN format. June 23, 2009 at 4:35 pm #100445 Seb PatrickKeymaster Doesn’t mean it was made for the event, though. It was made to celebrate the twentieth anniversary, which happened to be close to the time of CiN, so they put it on the same night. It wasn’t a “CiN special”, though. June 24, 2009 at 12:39 am #100449 DaveParticipant >It wasn?t a ?CiN special?, though. It really was. A 90 minute opportunity for Terry to have a sit down. In some regions it had scrolling phone numbers and totals over it. Eighties telethons were just different to what we have now. June 24, 2009 at 1:14 am #100451 Ben PaddonParticipant It doesn’t count as a CiN special because it wasn’t produced with CiN in mind. The BBC just nudged the airdate to coincide with CiN. June 24, 2009 at 4:03 pm #100452 pfmParticipant Oh for…CEASE (as said in the Robot Wars way). The funniest line of the Mirror piece is – Three years ago, Piper and Tennant filmed a show in Barcelona for Children in Need Bananas are awesome.
