ITV2’s new superhero sitcom now has it’s own sub-site and 3 1/2 minute trailer up. You can find the trailer here:

    The sub-site is here:

    http://www.itv.com/noheroics/

Now for the rant, You can also view the trailer on the sub-site but a)it seems to be powered by Silverlight and B) Stupidly you have to watch through adverts to get to view the trailer, surely you would get people to watch the trailer in the hopes of getting them to watch the show, not alienate them before even getting to see it.

Anyhow it seems like it could be an interesting show, although the fact that they are promoting the “adult” gags in it worries me slightly.

Why? Are you sensitive to naughty words?

I think everyone has the right to be worried about an overtly ‘adult’ show after the Torchwood series 1 debacle…

It still makes me laugh when Owen says to Gwen ‘I’ll make you come so hard you’ll forget who you are’ or whatever it is. It’s pure comedy! And then when he talks about being ‘fuck-buddies’. The tone of series 2 was much better, although I think you’ll all agree we deserved some Gwen or Tosh ‘sexual moments’ to balance out Jack and Ianto’s antics.

Anyhow, No Heroics starts Thursday 10.30pm on ITV2.

With regards to the adult stuff, maybe it’s just to differentiate it from My Hero, then again that was a success (from the BBC’s point of view, not mine). Maybe I just think the subject matter has the potential to be funny without having to promote it with cheap wanking gags.

I’ve seen the pilot of this now. It’s alright, not bad. It’s not the funniest thing ever, but there are some decent gags (mainly revolving around Nathan Barley, surprisingly), and James Lance is great. Also, I fancy Electroclash rather a lot.

Where it mostly gets a pass is that it’s clearly written by someone who knows their comics (Electroclash’s powers are just TOO Ex Machina-ish to be an accidental coincidence) and is playing with the tropes, rather than someone just using the popularity of comic book movies for cheap gags.

I’m certainly looking forward to it.

I wasn’t all that keen on ‘My Hero’, although it was a chuckle on occasion, and I do like the main actor.

I’m assuming this one is more of the dark humor comedy drama vein rather than a straight up sitcom? (Not that I’m knocking straight up sitoms…)

Yeah, I’m kind of looking forward to it too.

    Not immensely, just ‘kind of’.

    No, it’s pretty much a straight-up sitcom (although it’s audienceless) in style…

Ok. I’ll certainly give it a whirl. Or twirl. (The Wonderwoman outfit doesn’t really suit me though….)

I’d be interested in seeing this, too. I mean, I can’t help but think of all the possible ways it could go wrong, but at the same time it seems to have a really nice visual style and a slightly dark mood (or is that just the lighting?) that could lead to it becoming something better. I’d give it a chance.

I saw this a short while ago.

Not bad so far. Sex gags could get old fast though, but there were a couple of chuckles at least.

I don’t know why but I didn’t enjoy it. Probably because while it was on I was still in an argument with someone of the female persuasion about the events of …Call Girl which was on just before No Heroics. Still, it didn’t seem that good anyway. The Wrong Door is more interesting.

I quite liked the last (and only) episode of Wrong Door I saw. I wasn’t to bothered about missing it though as I know they repeat it, (although I couldn’t say the days off-hand.)

I watched it last night, some fresh ideas, but some super hero typical lines.

It was ok. Heavy on sex jokes and saying ‘fuck’ to the point of being almost embarrassingly adolescent, but still, it came off as quite likeable.

Man, so many jokes are being unnecessarily explained around here it’s starting to feel like Series 8.
