As for Resurrection, I didn’t hate it. It had some great ideas, particularly taking the theme of the ‘Alien’ within to a whole new level (now it’s in Ripley’s DNA.) The Ripley clone was an interesting character as was Cal and the Betty characters in general.

It was certainly the weakest of the films though with some plot issues and jumps I weren’t keen on.

Lovely underwater sequence though.

Ash knew about it, and was acting on orders from the company to retrieve the creature, “crew expendable”. So a story explaining how they knew about it, and how the nostromo was ordered to head towards it (maybe after losing one ship, they just sent the closest one they had to have a look, and that just happened to be nostromo).

it’d set the whole series up as being a big conspiracy, which would be quite nice.

i guess i had better apologise to the whedon fan-types, i just find buffy, angel, firefly, serenity and alien resurrection to be more than a bit crap. there’s a common thread linking them all, and it happens to be whedon. of course it’s just my opinion, sorry for voicing it in such a way.

The screenplay has too much smartmouth and ‘coolness’ from Whedon, but no it didn’t help that it was directed like a piece of poo. You could take Cameron’s Aliens script and make a horrible HORRIBLE movie out of it.
