It had some great ideas, particularly taking the theme of the ‘Alien’ within to a whole new level (now it’s in Ripley’s DNA.) The Ripley clone was an interesting character as was Cal and the Betty characters in general. It was certainly the weakest of the films though with some plot issues and jumps I weren’t keen on. Lovely underwater sequence though. June 13, 2009 at 3:41 pm #100036 Scott MParticipant Ash knew about it, and was acting on orders from the company to retrieve the creature, “crew expendable”. So a story explaining how they knew about it, and how the nostromo was ordered to head towards it (maybe after losing one ship, they just sent the closest one they had to have a look, and that just happened to be nostromo). it’d set the whole series up as being a big conspiracy, which would be quite nice. Never seen Alien Resurrection so I can’t comment, but as for the rest of that comment… FUCK OFF. June 13, 2009 at 5:31 pm #100041 Pete Part ThreeParticipant This is the 248th time Alien Resurrection has been discussed on G+T. That’s 4 times more than Red Dwarf. June 13, 2009 at 5:35 pm #100042 JamesTCParticipant Alien Resurrection has been discussed on Red Dwarf 244 times? June 13, 2009 at 5:45 pm #100044 Pete Part ThreeParticipant There was a big homage to it in one of the last episodes, culminating in a visit to Weyland-Yutani. It was fucking hilarious. June 13, 2009 at 6:33 pm #100045 CarlitoParticipant > Alien Resurrection has been discussed on Red Dwarf 244 times? He was probably thinking of Blade Runner. June 13, 2009 at 6:34 pm #100046 CarlitoParticipant Hmm… shoulda read Pete’s last post before I wrote that. June 13, 2009 at 6:56 pm #100047 p2p_productionsParticipant >Alien Resurrection is a lovely screenplay that went on to become a horrible, horrible film. Yep. June 13, 2009 at 8:37 pm #100057 Scott MParticipant i guess i had better apologise to the whedon fan-types, i just find buffy, angel, firefly, serenity and alien resurrection to be more than a bit crap. there’s a common thread linking them all, and it happens to be whedon. of course it’s just my opinion, sorry for voicing it in such a way. June 13, 2009 at 10:32 pm #100064 DaveParticipant Chris M, sort your brother out June 13, 2009 at 11:34 pm #100069 Ben PaddonParticipant Let’s just stop all this now. June 14, 2009 at 12:45 am #100051 pfmParticipant The screenplay has too much smartmouth and ‘coolness’ from Whedon, but no it didn’t help that it was directed like a piece of poo. You could take Cameron’s Aliens script and make a horrible HORRIBLE movie out of it. June 14, 2009 at 11:48 am #100075 ChrisMParticipant >Chris M, sort your brother out Harumph! E’s no brother of mine! ;) June 14, 2009 at 12:13 pm #100077 Scott MParticipant Obviously :) Author Replies Viewing 15 replies - 51 through 65 (of 65 total) 1 2 Scroll to top • Scroll to Recent Forum Posts You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
