If you could cross Red Dwarf over with any other franchise, which one would it be and why?

I’d love an episode of Red Dwarf with Santa in it.

One thing my weird little mind has often wondered is what would happen if, on their journey to discover Earth, the Battlestar Galactica fleet jumped into the path of Red Dwarf. Don’t ask why, it’s fucking bonkers … but sod it, as you asked, I’m going with that. BSG & Red Dwarf crossover please.

    Metallica.

Because at least they made a film.
And arguably they’ve both been through the same career arc.
And I loved both as a teen.
And I feel loyalty toward them both.

But the BSG crossover would be worth watching… The first two seasons of the remake were similar in tone to the first series of Red Dwarf. I think. Probably.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned Blade Runner.

    That would be shit, though.

Well, it kind of actually was.

Imagine if they tried to do a Blade Runner and Coronation Street crossover in the same story, though.

I was going to suggest Robot Wars but that’s just Siliconia

I’d have liked them to crossover with a Red Dwarf during Series VIII. Just a couple of nods towards that show, as if you’re watching an episode of it as opposed to what you are watching.

OK, for real, in the context of a Comic Relief/Children In Need short, I would be absolutely psyched if they did a Red Dwarf/Doctor Who crossover. Kind of an obvious answer, but someone had to say it. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program:

they were going to do this for Comic Relief 1993- Rob and Doug were planning to write a short in which the posse fought the Daleks. for some reason this didn’t happen (its explained why in the Programme Guide but for the life of me i can’t remember what it was) so they just did that Bohemian Rhapsody thing instead
