After watching the “Making Of…”, anyone wish that they’d just used a skutter glove puppet, ala RD I, for the closeups? They were distractingly shiny in BtE1, and since they pseudo-puppeteered them anyway for a guide…

Didn’t bother me in the slightest. What bothered me was that the CG skutter seemed a little… well, chunkier than its mechanical counterpart.

I thought the CGI skutters looked really good. The only real indication I got that they were indeed CG was the smoothness of the movements… which is hardly a bad thing.

No doubt if I looked closely I’d see some kind of disparity with the background, like most CGI, but I don’t really see the ‘poor CGI’ people speak of.

The diving bell scene did look like a CGI animation (which it was.) A very good CGI animation. I’m certainly not complaining, it did the job, looked wonderful in fact. I just thought the skutters looked more realistic, while I get the impression for most people it’s the other way round. (Maybe it’s my eyes…)

The head of the Skutter looked great, it was just it’s claws that looked too chunky, like Ben said.

It only looked a little too cgi, so to speak, when it was holding the hammer.

There were a few scenes which looked particularly out of place. I particularly liked the out of focus shot with Rimmer in the foreground, that looked fantastic, excellent motion trackin there, but I have to say that for the budget they (didn’t) have, the majority of the shots were unbelievable!!!
