Even MORE remarkable… it’s cheapest at the BBC Shop! (Thanks to find-dvd.co.uk, the most practical site on the web!) http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/BBCDVD2600.htm Creator Topic Viewing 24 replies - 1 through 24 (of 24 total) Author Replies January 13, 2008 at 12:34 am #119346 Seb PatrickKeymaster I’m guessing this is just the existing eight sets (and Bodysnatcher, maybe?) in a funky cardboard box. It had bloody better be, anyway. And if it is, well, Andrew can probably brace himself for another round of “Can I just buy the cardboard box off you? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?” January 13, 2008 at 1:23 am #119347 Jason aka Smeg4BrainsParticipant We’ll we knew it’d eventually get released all together but as long as they don’t add any more extras I’m quite happy. January 13, 2008 at 1:34 am #119348 AlParticipant 18 discs, that’ll be minus bodysnatcher then. January 13, 2008 at 1:41 am #119349 Jonathan CappsKeymaster > We?ll we knew it?d eventually get released all together but as long as they don?t add any more extras I?m quite happy. I think that’s a pretty fair assumption since the release is in a month and we’ve heard nowt from Andrew about any new stuff. And yeah, I hope he’s ready for a hoard of idiots pestering him for the box on its own. Never has a community over-valued cardboard casing this much. January 13, 2008 at 2:00 am #119351 thomasaevansParticipant What If… there’s a store exclusive tin? January 13, 2008 at 2:09 am #119352 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Then every fan collector will melt. January 13, 2008 at 10:49 pm #119361 Steve HarrisParticipant I think we could all see this happening at some stage and I dont think anyone is missing anything new or missing out in anyway.. I have to admit to being one of those that wanted a ‘box’ for I-VIII, having expected a ‘set’ at some later date but have recently changed my mind to a degree. Since the release of VIII, we’ve had ‘Beat The Geek’, ‘Just The Smegs’ and ‘Bodysnatchers’ and I kind of now view all the DVD’s as a set rather than just I-VIII. One day, perhaps, I’m going to demand a ‘big’ box for all of them. Having said that, it will be interesting to see if there is going to be special packaging and no doubt someone will moan about it anyway. To sum up, I’m more than happy with what I’ve got and nobody or anything can really alter that. HE’S HOLDING THEM BACK FOR A BIG, SUPER BOX SET LATER :P January 14, 2008 at 3:28 pm #119373 Danny StephensonKeymaster Does Region 1 already have a Box Set? http://cgi.ebay.com/Red-Dwarf-The-Complete-Collection-18-DVD-Box-Set-NEW_W0QQitemZ130189595051QQihZ003QQcategoryZ617QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Hmm…. Not sure about this. January 14, 2008 at 3:33 pm #119374 Jonathan CappsKeymaster It does indeed. January 14, 2008 at 3:39 pm #119375 Danny StephensonKeymaster I thought it was a BIG OL’ FORGERY! January 14, 2008 at 4:20 pm #119376 Jonathan CappsKeymaster No, it was released a good while ago. It’s what got people all frothy about having their own box. January 14, 2008 at 4:28 pm #119377 AndrewParticipant > It?s what got people all frothy about having their own box. “Ooh, pardon”, etc. January 14, 2008 at 6:20 pm #119378 pennyParticipant > It?s what got people all frothy Cappuccino anyone? January 14, 2008 at 11:08 pm #119379 Steve HarrisParticipant *Declines the offer of sprinkled chocolate on top* I think at this point in time, a reinforced Red Dwarf shelf would be of more use than a box…. January 14, 2008 at 11:12 pm #119380 DaveParticipant If the box is red with start and stop on it, I’m going to find it more difficult to resist January 14, 2008 at 11:19 pm #119381 pennyParticipant >If the box is red with start and stop on it, I?m going to find it more difficult to resist Even more so if you press the start button and it give a Red Dwarf quote like: “It’s fairly straightforward. If you want to start it you press “START,” and you can work out the rest of the controls for yourself.” January 15, 2008 at 1:13 am #119384 Jonathan CappsKeymaster So long as Product Enterprise doesn’t do the sound chip. January 15, 2008 at 1:34 am #119386 John HoareParticipant You know what, though? If the release of a full boxset meant that the budget could be allocated for more extras, I’d actually be happy. You could include, say, recut III/IV doccos, and an extra disc full of stuff. And the reason I’d be happy is because: I’m not losing anything. Sure, I wouldn’t be able to afford any new Dwarf boxset at the moment, so I wouldn’t get to see the extra stuff (straight away, at any rate) – but then, if extra stuff wasn’t released, then I obviously wouldn’t get to see anything new anyway! You might as well have the stuff out there for some people to get the pleasure out of it. I see no point in making everyone else suffer purely because we’d be jealous that someone else has got stuff we haven’t got. We’ve all had the individual DVDs for years and had shitloads of entertainment out of them anyway – what we’ve spent on the DVDs is money well spent, regardless of anything else released in the future. And hey, let’s face it – we’d all get to see it at some point, in any number of different ways. Of course, intent matters – and if a company releases something twice purely to screw over its customers, then that’s a Bad Thing. But we’ve all had an insight into the DVD production process, and that clearly wouldn’t be the case for Dwarf – if circumstances meant that they could add a little extra value, I wouldn’t object in the slightest. Regardless, extra material being included in any potential boxset is not something I think will happen in any case. But I see no problem with it theoretically. January 15, 2008 at 12:43 pm #119394 thomasaevansParticipant No…It AINT gonna happen at this stage. Definatley ‘that’s all folks’ till the next format I’m thinking. It would be awesome, however, If you could get a special Red Dwarf style container to put the discs in. Like the ‘Alien’ head or ‘Predator’ head. Starbug might be more logical, because of the shape… but to have the original non-pencil Dwarf would be superb! Like the ?Alien? head or ?Predator? head. You, sir, are an enemy of DVD shelves and all right thinking people. January 15, 2008 at 4:33 pm #119398 Joey TORDFCParticipant :-o BBC and Woolies removed! January 15, 2008 at 11:39 pm #119402 John HoareParticipant I’ve got a feeling we’re in for another Series 1 CD situation… January 15, 2008 at 11:40 pm #119403 thomasaevansParticipant Lmao… shelves love me!
