I just spent a few hours working out how White Wizard Games’ Lovecraft-themed deckbuilding game Cthulhu Realms could be loosely adapted / directly plagiarised with a Red Dwarf VI theme to create ‘Starbug Realms.’ (It worked better than adapting Star Realms, which is just boring spaceships). Then I got bored of “making” a fictional game at 33 years old.

What’s the most pointless activity you’ve wasted precious life doing for love of this programme? Bonus points the older you were and the more responsibilities you had at the time. I’ll get back to my adult work now.

I wasted many hours on various occasions trying to make a Red Dwarf fan-film, only to always give up halfway through, making the whole thing a massive waste of time. The closest I got was when I was about 12 or 13, I built a III-V style set in part of my room with the intent to film it there, but ultimately it was all a bit crap so I gave up on it and then had to explain to my dad why one wall of my room was fucking covered in bits of old styrofoam

I used to know these two guys. They had this crazy idea about starting a fansite.

When I was a maybe 10 or 12 years old I insisted my bedroom be decorated like the series 1-2 bunk room

So I got this god awful grey paint, metal framed bunk beds, a small 14″ tv mounted on the wall … and not much else.

It looked like shit and it remained that way until we finally moved when I was 18.

Though I had by then painted one wall white and spray painted height marks on it so make an edgy mug shot wall to do some photos for the band I was in at the time. They came out shit … and I then had to explain to my mum why I had spray painted my walls. Fun times

There are various Red Dwarf-related ways I’d like to waste my time that I haven’t got around to yet. For ages I’ve wanted to do animated versions of parts of the radio show versions of the books-kind of like that bloke on Youtube who animates bits of the Hitchhiker’s radio shows. Currently working on an animation of an old Eddie Izzard skit, so maybe once I’m done with that I’ll have a crack at it

Also, one time I tried to make a Red Dwarf RPG videogame where you play as a group of the revived crew, trying to survive in deep space after the events of Series VIII. I didn’t get very far with that, but I’d love to get back to it and finish it one day as I think it would have been decent

Me and my friend made a fanfilm in 1993 called Polymorph 3-Eddycork.

Red Dwarf’s a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.

I skipped Timewave on my rewatch because I didn’t want to waste my time, but I’ve seen the shitty VII and VIII episodes and Lemons multiple times

I’ll sell you my body for a copy of that model to play with.

Website? You were lucky to have a website! We used to live in one thread, all hundred and twenty-six of us, no edit button. Half the forum was missing; we were all huddled together to launch curry in t’space!

Working on revitalizing the Tongue Tied wiki after Back to Earth and X aired I guess. It is nowhere close to being the Wiki I have spent the most time on though, mostly since I have never really like Wikia/Fandom as a host.

At one point in my childhood I spent hours writing out a complete list of Pokémon in Pokédex order, but adjusted so that newer evolutions were grouped with the Pokémon they’re evolved from, and expanded to explicity include variants such as Crystal Onix, Spiral Shelter and Baby Kangaskhan.

*clears throat* That’s SHELLDER, in fact.

Luckily my biro did not have an autocorrect function.

I’ve been wasting gobs of time trying to figure out how I set the lighting up in this to make Starbug look so decent. I could do the camera and the light flares and the starfield and everything else better now, but I can’t for the life of me get the Starbug itself to stop looking like Series VII when I try to do so.

Plus I could do fake VII a lot better now.
