A picture of Howard Goodall himself.I bet nobody’s made that pun before. Ben Horsfiled has very kindly e-mailed us an article he saw in Thursday’s Daily Mirror. Jeff Evans, writing for the new version of the Penguin TV Companion, has compiled a list of the best TV theme tunes of all time. Which gives lazy hacks from the Daily Mirror, and indeed us, a nice cheap story. Red Dwarf‘s end theme, sung by Jenna Russell, came a very respectable fourth. Shockingly, this is Goodall’s only entry in the top twenty, with Mr. Bean, and especially Blackadder, stupidly overlooked. And the lack of any of the Auf Wiedersehen, Pet themes is disgraceful.

The winner, incidentally, was The White Horses, a little-known 60s children’s show from Germany. Another 60s show, Fireball XL5 came second, while Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? got the fully deserved bronze medal.
