! News Posted by Ian Symes on 24th June 2005, 10:52 I’ve paid my dues, Time after time, I’ve done my sentence, But committed no crime, And bad mistakes, I’ve made a few, I’ve had my share of sand kicked in my face, But I’ve come through…
As the only member of Observation Dome NOT INVOLVED ONE IOTA I extend my most heartfelt congratulations. Way to go guys, I know you worked hard and I’m sure you deserve it!
I’m on cloud nine. This is quite possibly the best thing ever. I’ve said it other places, too, but the other films looks bloody fantastic. I can’t WAIT for the DVD now.
I can’t sit still at the moment. This film has consumed the last six months of my life. Nothing’s been easy, in any stage of the production. Even when the film was in the can and submitted, there were still problems. But it was all worth it, just for that one moment when I got the e-mail…
Nope, I got an e-mail this morning. Not sure whether it was before, after, or at the same time as TOS updating.
It was timed to be about the same. Congratulations to everyone at the OD – I’m extremely glad to see your hard work pay off. Great film. Just excellent. Well, y’know, apart for that shot of John Hoare reading his lines… :-)
The script was being used as a prop. Yes, that’s it. It’s very clever and post-modern, you see. Not just us being shit.
>The script was being used as a prop. Yes, that’s it. It’s very clever and post-modern, you see. Not just us being shit. Actually, in a film with so much detail, I assumed it was a well-crafted reference to Robert’s performance in Out Of Time… ;-)
Don’t know what to say…..the words ‘jammy’ and ‘cunts’ spring to mind….also ‘fucking well done’. And a Doug introduction!!!
Andrew – you talk about our amazing attention to detail… Did you see the last two DVDs we sent in? Did you notice what colours they were?
I believe there’s one visual reference you’ve not mentioned yet, Andrew. It’s *very* obscure an only shown very briefly towards the end…
>Did you notice what colours they were? I don’t think I saw them – a file was duplicated onto my desktop one day while I was out editing. Pourquoi? > I believe there’s one visual reference you’ve not mentioned yet, Andrew. There’s probably several, aren’t there? I haven’t done a breakdown, dissection or anything . What is it?
“Pourquoi?” The colours were very carefully picked to match certain other DVDs… Well done Seb and Cappsy :) “What is it?” I haven’t seen one before, no-one has… You’ll have to wait for the DVD to come out and look a bit closer on the desk in the last scenes…
“There’s probably several, aren’t there? I haven’t done a breakdown, dissection or anything . What is it?” Well, I seem to remember you mentioning all the main ones in a thread on the WebBoard, except this one (but I don’t blame you as it’s very obscure indeed). I wont mention what it is exactly, it’s just a very subtle prop change in the 50 years later scene.
“You’ll have to wait for the DVD to come out and look a bit closer on the desk in the last scenes…” I don’t think Andrew will need to wait until the DVD comes out, some how :P
“I don’t think Andrew will need to wait until the DVD comes out, some how :P” Well, no, but I’ve got to aid promotion of something I’m on :) Anyhow, I’ve just checked, and it’s definately viewable one the “high quality” copies GNP have.
I assume it’s just me who’s going to stand in HMV* saying “I’m on that, would you like me to sign it?” * Other DVD retailers are available, and are probably cheaper.
You know, I can’t even remember myself what that reference was, I’ll have to check it when I get home. D’oh. But anyway, as the others have said, I’m just on cloud nine right now. We’re not worthy, and all that. My picture is on TOS. And my ugly mug (and, um, semi-naked torso) is going to be on the DVD. Um, wow.
