DwarfCasts from Ganymede & TitanTo celebrate Red Dwarf’s twenty-fifth anniversary, we held a small gathering in West London in order to broadcast a load of old Dwarf-related ramblings live to the assembled masses. This is your regular downloadable version of that broadcast. The G&T team (Cappsy, Danny, Ian, John and Tanya) were joined by TORDFC’s Jezzmund Tutu and Jo Sharples, and TOS’s Seb Patrick. We discussed the Silver Survey results, revealed Team G&T’s Top 20 episodes, looked back at contemporary reaction to Series VII and VIII, and generally spoke a lot of shit. We were also joined on Skype by Brayds2006, Cpt-D, Alex Newsome, Shane Poole, Jonsmad and the ever-erudite Pecos Pete. Thanks to all our correspondents, and everyone who listened live – this was a hell of a lot of fun, and helped to make the 25th anniversary a real special occasion.

  • Seeing as I totally forgot about this, like a prize prickpiece, I shall look forward to listening tomorrow!

  • Great for all the episode poll discussions a top way to mark 25 years, but most of all I really really like john’s dairy milk story.
Plus tiny detail though it is the gestalt entity maths applied to fluff freemans catchphrase is a nice touch, that made me giggle.

  • Ian’s review of Krytie TV and Pete and the BTL reviews of Pete Part Three’s review of Series VII were the best bits.

I think I prefer you podcasts being a bit more freestyle like this. Would you do another live one like this, or is it back to commentaries?

I’d never heard of Fluff Freeman, but I laughed all the way through that part as well as everything just mentioned by James and Jonsmad. And “Why, is it about Pistorius?” distracted me for so long, on both listens, that I’ll have to listen a third time to find out what Seb’s actual point about the movie was.

    The DJ XVII one!!!

  • I’m afraid I only listened to the first half an hour or so of the live broadcast before I fell asleep. That’s no reflection on the discussion, which I was really enjoying – just on the fact I’d been up since 4.30 a.m. and had to be up the same time the next day. Sorry!

So I’ll be listening to an MP3 version. Does this podcast version have anything edited out of the audio (or added to it?), or should I download the version on the spreaker.com page to get the pure, pristine, raw, unedited original?

  • I’ve just remembered that I was watching our series V off air recordings with my brother in 1992 and I said to him ‘I bet the next series will be called ‘Starbug’ because they’re hardly ever just on the Dwarf these days’

My brother responded that he missed the classic lines of series 2 like when Lister said ‘you’re beginning to sound like my mum’ to Kryten.

We did think that Holoship wasn’t very good back then. I think we were just having to adapt to the new dramatic sci fi action direction the show was taking.

The only difference between the two is that the Spreaker version has 20 minutes worth of chart hits from 1998 at the start, which are chopped off of our version. Also, there was some sort of technical error near the end where the audio dropped out for about seven seconds – we’ve chopped those seven seconds of silence out.

A special ‘Just The Silence’ edition will be released next week.
