Oh, it’s continuing. I knew it would. News Posted by Jonathan Capps on 19th July 2017, 18:57 The gradual ramp up to Red Dwarf XII‘s broadcast continues, with the official Twitter account today teasing us ever closer to the inevitable climax with a Tweet containing a lovely picture of what I believe is a new look bunk room console. Also included is this beautiful close up of the ship schematic (click for an embiggened version)… I’m not sure what an “Artificial Grave” is but I take a strange comfort in the fact that it is only at 19%. While it’s no guarantee, I think this tweet further points to the likelihood of a a proper ramping up of details about the new series, maybe even as soon as this very Friday. Until then, and as first brought to our attention by Si Bromley, the latest issue of SFX features a four page piece on the Red Dwarf XII sets so while we’ve not got our hands on a copy of this yet, this should nicely pass the time until we start getting more news. Maybe then I might actually start believing we’re actually getting a new series and finally snap out of this post-XI haze…
Assuming Artificial Grave was artificial gravity, I don’t get how that’s there, pylon and pylon fair enough, but grave from gravity? Anyway, looks quite nice. Think the shop will change ramscope to ramscoop now on the Red Dwarf Haynes shirt now that it’s written down somewhere? Haha
Those spelling errors are really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really annoying.
Assuming Artificial Grave was artificial gravity, I don’t get how that’s there, pylon and pylon fair enough, but grave from gravity? Best guess: it was supposed to be abbreviated as “ARTIFICIAL GRAV.” and was either typo’d or subjected to the merciless whims of autocorrect. Also, not even sure how “PYLON”/”PLYON” happened when the correct version’s right next to the incorrect one! Personally I’d have just copy/pasted the first line and then adjusted from there. (Love that you couldn’t bring yourself to replicate the typo’d version in your post, BTW – haha! XD) If there’s ever a Series XIII, they should produce a slightly modified version of this graphic which keeps everything including the typos as-is, but adds one extra readout: “AUTOMATIC SPELL CHECKER: 13% (LEVELS CRITICAL)” = P
I don’t know how some of those typos got in there, and I made the graphic. Welcome, Matthew (I assume)!

Either that or it was meant to be artificial gravy and Dave have signed a product placement deal with Bisto for series XII.
I don’t know how some of those typos got in there, and I made the graphic. Welcome, Matthew (I assume)! Ta. Somewhat bemusing to have typos from ~19 months ago be under such scrutiny! All the of the panels of that nature (and there are a lot) were designed and laid out in just under three days before being lasered in Bristol and printed in Cardiff before coming back to London, so it was all fairly manic, so I’m not surprised that a few typos slipped through the net. This particular panel was the last one done and it was laid out very very quickly after spending best part of the working day drawing up the ship. In my defence I never thought that Press would put out a photo of it that’s virtually double the size of the real one… It’s been a while but the theory that it was “Grav” rather than Gravity is likely correct. The Pylon thing definitely looks like the work of a madman, though.
Noticed what looks like a cheeky Top down Starbug in the breakout square though :) Nice to see the details though. That thing is relatively tiny on set and yet you still put a lot of information into it. I likes.
There was a feature about the production design in an SFX before XI wasn’t there? Not sure but I’ve seen some of it somewhere and it is gorgeous despite unfortunate spelling mistakes. Particularly remember that payphone with all the JMC extensions and space prostitute numbers on it, and Starbug’s new cockpit displays. Was hoping to see more about it on the Bluray, maybe for XII since they share so much. I’d love to be able to have a reyt good look at it all, spot all the references.

That sounds specifically like the stuff I did for XII – would be interested if anyone knows what issue that was!
MGC, do you have a copy of it on hand? I’ve tried re-jigging the screenshot but the resolution ain’t there and it’s a hell of a blueprint, one of the best.

Yes but I’m a pernickety bastard. I certainly couldn’t whip up something like that though, it’s bloody marvellous, it really gives life to the ship, fleshes out the technical bits and bobs that make it up.
“maybe even as soon as this very Friday. ” Any moment now. Since no-one else has mentioned it, just noticed that the article about this on TOS says “You might be particularly excited this time next week, is all we’ll say… “
So there’s going to be an episode where they’re all Kryten? I can’t believe they’ve spoiled that at this early stage.
