Video DwarfCast #5 – Are You Smarter Than A G&Ter? Byte Two Features Posted by Jonathan Capps on 22nd July 2024, 13:27 We’ve set a lot of Red Dwarf quizzes in our time, but are we any good at answering them? Well, Part 1 of this video should give you a decent idea but unless we are still in any doubt, it’s time to find out… again! Want to play along? You’ll find a big list of quizzes underneath the video – take them, then watch the vid, then tell us how you did. Oh, and you’re probably better off clicking through to YouTube and going full-screen if you want to see what we’re typing properly. 1. People 2. Places 3. Opening Lines Part 1 4. Opening Lines Part 2 5. Opening Lines Part 3 6. DVD Chapters 7. The End – Full Credits
1. 41/127 2. 34/101 3. 18/21 (all the ones I didn’t get were Dave-era) 4. 14/21 5. 16/19 6. 96% (the only one I didn’t get right was when an ad was covering up the bottom two answers so I couldn’t hit the correct one) 7. 16/33 (gave up when it wouldn’t accept Mark Williams)
1. 27/127 Pathetic. 2. 33/101 3. 14/21 4. 16/21 5. 17/19 6. 24/25 Panicked even though there was loads of time left. 7. 22/33 Got Petersen right eventually.
1. 33/127 2. 36/101 3. 16/21 4. 11/21 5. 15/19 6. 25/25 7. 15/33 People and places not my forte, though maybe there are just too many of them to quickly recall like this. I’m happy I remembered to put Craig Charles though. Chloe Annett is also recognised but just counts as a bonus due to only being written down. I let myself down with Opening Lines, but I didn’t do terribly. I guess a lot of opening lines just aren’t as memorable as closing ones: I got Blue mixed up with The Last Day for example. Also the time limit is much harsher, and many of the answers didn’t line up with what I deemed the opening lines in MaMotFaLLoEEoRD. Should have got 17 for The End Credits. “Willians” and “Bathhurst”, seriously? I was so happy I remembered Robert Bathurst after I forgot him for one of the Byte One quizzes, and it does this to me. Was there some earlier version of the credits with those misspellings, and if so why didn’t they also fix “as Peterson” in the current version? I’m annoyed I forgot Peter Wragg though. Props to Danny for being a credits remembering machine.
1. 42/127 2. Couldn’t be arsed. 3. 10/27, but an advert stopped me seeing the bottom 3, which I definitely would have got. 4. 16/21 5. 15/19 6. 24/25, chose Krytie TV instead of OTG 7. 14/33 but gave up with 10 mins on the clock. Also screwed by ‘Mark Willians’ and I learnt there’s only one ‘n’ in ‘Dona’ Di Stefano.
Didn’t play along, but I ended up shouting names at the screen for the first one. Gonna wrack my brains for some difficult ones. I have a Sporcle account I used to make stuff many years ago, might reactivate it if I come up with something.
I was so happy I remembered Robert Bathurst after I forgot him for one of the Byte One quizzes Me too, and the same goes for David Gillespie. Didn’t help that I completely failed to notice the guest stars were in alphabetical order last time. Kudos to Danny for dredging up some of those names in the credits for The End. I was especially pleased to get Tony Worthington but drew a blank on who played McIntyre.
Ok, here’s one that expands on one you did in the video. Name the episode based on one DVD chapter name. A few are obvious but I think this is very hard. https://www.sporcle.com/games/IntlDebris/name-the-red-dwarf-episode-from-one-dvd-chapter
It does include the Dave era but not all of it. It wouldn’t give me Rupert Murdoch. I tried this one too.
Red Dwarf People Quiz – 36/127 (28%) Red Dwarf Places – 38/101 (38%) Opening Lines Part 1 – 14/22 (67%) Opening Lines Part 2 – 15/21 (71%) Opening Lines Part 3 – 11/19 (58%) Red Dwarf DVD Chapters – 25/25 Red Dwarf – The End – Full Credits Quiz – 16/33 (48%) I thought that “Willians” was one of the alternatives I tried! But maybe I only tried it as “Wilians”, or in combination with “Marc”.
It does include the Dave era but not all of it. It wouldn’t give me Rupert Murdoch. I tried this one too. Yeah Murdoch is one of them that was catching me out – probably wasted a good minute trying various spellings for Cured guest characters!
I tried Doncaster for the places quiz and that wasn’t there. I was all over the shop on that one and the people one though. Like Cappsy said, I think a different format that forced you to be more methodical would be better for those. That’s my excuse for my crap scores anyway!
Red Dwarf People Quiz – 33/127 (26%) – I mispelled Galileo and Satre. Bonus answers of Jesus, Les Paul, Motorhead, Neil Armstrong, Santa and Shakespeare. Red Dwarf Places – 40/101 (40%). A lot of ‘Bolivian’ and ‘Chinese’ not counting. Opening Lines Part 1 – 17/21 (81%) Opening Lines Part 2 – 16/21 (76%) Opening Lines Part 3 – 14/19 (74%) Red Dwarf DVD Chapters – 23/25 – oopsie Red Dwarf – The End – Full Credits Quiz – 8/33 (23%) – forgetting Mac McDonald’s name is a crime, I got Petersen and Kochanski but not how they wanted
