Think I may have to watch it again, see if I get on with it better. The problem is that I don’t peticularly like the Slater girl. She’s not stunningly attractive for a start – she’s got a funny chin and a large forehead. Anyone else? Really wanted to like it…but….meh, couldn’t be arsed with it one way or the other. And yes, she does look rather like tweety pie. Starbuck on the other hand….phwoar, etc! March 12, 2008 at 1:23 pm #121576 JamesParticipant I have watched the first 8 Episodes and it does get better. But then with the threat of its cancellation in the US, some of the main actors ran and left the show. This of course affected the look and feel, and I’m sorry to say trailed off with the final Ep. Its a pity really, I liked the original, and this has brought it up to date. I’m not bothered about her looks, that doesn’t make a difference to me, what matters that she is English and had broken into the US, and IMO was doing a good job. I hope that since its getting a UK showing it will create an audience, making them continue the Series. Well maybe. March 12, 2008 at 1:42 pm #121577 ChrisMParticipant I didn’t mind it. It was ok. I thought the update of the bionic appendages (!?) having nanotechnology was very interesting. Incidentally, I thought the first bionic woman might be the actress who plays Starbuck, but I wasn’t sure. She looks quite different in the new getup. The show I’m quite into right now is the Sarah Connor Chronicles. It’s not perfect, there are some plot holes…. SPOILER ALERT! Cromartie’s body being left on a dump for years with little damage seemed bit too much of a stretch for me. Especially as I thought he got blown up, rather than just having his head shot off. Then again, maybe the T-888s have nanotech repairing them? Silly he wasn’t noticed though. …. but otherwise I’m rather enjoying it. March 12, 2008 at 2:19 pm #121581 AndrewParticipant > The problem is that I don?t peticularly like the Slater girl. She?s not stunningly attractive for a start – she?s got a funny chin and a large forehead. Because that’s the important thing. Not plot, character or acting ability. I thought she was…fine. But the whole show seems under-thought, with nothing to say beyond “Hey, you liked Buffy, right?” Female kickassery isn’t enough on its own…any more than male kickassery would be. March 12, 2008 at 3:02 pm #121582 Jonathan CappsKeymaster It definitely picks up. The 3rd and 4th episodes are really good and Jamie’s character gets a lot more interesting and likeable. I think Michelle Ryan is does a brilliant job, though. She’s got a great accent. Also, I think she’s one of the most beautiful women in the entire world, but maybe I’m just odd. March 12, 2008 at 3:17 pm #121583 Pete Part ThreeParticipant I would. She’s not amazing. But, y’know, I would. March 12, 2008 at 7:29 pm #121587 pfmParticipant Katee Sackhoff… is all. March 12, 2008 at 10:54 pm #121599 Danny StephensonKeymaster > T-888s Do they come with subtitles? YSWIDT? March 13, 2008 at 4:14 am #121606 ChrisMParticipant I was referring to the T-800 type terminators you see in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Apparently the ones in this series are T-888s. A small spoiler I picked up from the internet actually, but nothing to spoil the story. I.e. they’re an advancemnent on Arnold’s series, one advancement being their ability to control their body by remote control if their cranial unit (that the noggin to you and me) gets seperated. March 13, 2008 at 11:40 am #121614 cliffParticipant ya can’t beat lindsay wagner!, when will they learn that these things only worked in the decade they were made…it’s time all these people that work in television thought up something original!, back in the 70’s it wasn’t re-make city then, so why now!.. …..of course i’m not opposed to wathin the ripened michelle ryan jumping around in tight clothing kicking butt…. …..one thing about the original too…wasn’t it steve austin who had the bionic eye!???! ………….i’ve said my piece…the court is adjourned!> March 13, 2008 at 12:38 pm #121615 AnonymousGuest Really liking the Sarah Connor Chronicles so far. Expected it to be an excuse to create a series by clumsily rejigging the Terminator continuity….but it’s actually very good. Dovetails into everything nicely and Arnie isn’t missed at all. March 13, 2008 at 1:50 pm #121619 ChrisMParticipant ?..one thing about the original too?wasn?t it steve austin who had the bionic eye!???! That is correct. Steve Austin had a bionic eye. The Bionic woman had a bionic ear. This new lady has both. Whilst I’m kind of with you in preferring something original to remakes, I have to say the tone of the show is rather different. As different as say the new Galactica to the original. In short, whilst the premise is similar the characters are rather different. As is the feel of the world they live in. I wonder, if they’d kept the new show exactly as it is, but called it by a different name (Techno woman, the cyber girl… nah they’re kinda rubbish aren’t they?) if peoples attitude toward remakes (including myself!) would be different. Quite possibly not actually, or if so not necesarily for the good as the reference to the original might be a good advertising point too for other people… March 13, 2008 at 2:39 pm #121623 cliffParticipant …………..of course doctor who is the only exception!.. …it’s not a re-make its a revolution!.. March 13, 2008 at 2:40 pm #121624 cliffParticipant …..re-terminator.. yeah, terminator is cool, it works if it doesn’t damage the original too much. ……….it’s like when they replaced jodie foster with julianne moore in hannibal!. March 13, 2008 at 2:42 pm #121625 cliffParticipant …terminator 3 got a bad press……………i thought it was ok. March 13, 2008 at 4:00 pm #121628 AnonymousGuest ’twas a bit too in-jokey and afraid to take itself seriously, but I agree – T3 was pretty good. March 13, 2008 at 7:48 pm #121631 ChrisMParticipant T3 wasn’t bad at all. Probably the worst of the three, but still ok. I agree about the in-jokes. And there were some cool robots. March 13, 2008 at 9:21 pm #121632 pfmParticipant Parts of T3 are excellent (like when he smashes in with the bigger helicopter at the end, although perhaps ‘I’m back’ should have been left in the trailer only!) but it just failed to go that extra mile. PG-13-izing it was a bad move, it removes a lot of the danger. Sarah being dead fucks everything up too, it was always her story. Though I’m guessing if Linda Hamilton had agreed to appear it would only have been a small role anyway. She probably didn’t want to play a dying Sarah. She?s not stunningly attractive for a start – she?s got a funny chin and a large forehead. Because that?s the important thing. Not plot, character or acting ability. Well, that’s put me in my male chauvenist place. March 14, 2008 at 2:25 pm #121670 ChrisMParticipant Though I?m guessing if Linda Hamilton had agreed to appear it would only have been a small role anyway. She probably didn?t want to play a dying Sarah. Actually if Linda Hamilton had agreed to come back they probably would have given her a bigger role. From what I understand, they killed her character off because she didn’t want to come back (but I could be wrong.) I think she said in an interview she wasn’t inclined to return as she would likely be doing more of the same which I guess is fair enough, from her point of view. And now Sarah Connor’s got a whole new series with her name on it and another lady has the role. And another one of those English ladies too. It’s cheeky that guy put down Ms Slater for being ‘an English girl in the role of the bionic woman’ considering the amount of Americans play our roles! I do kind of agree though that it’s preferable to have actors playing their own nationality. It’s just that less of a stretch and chance of accent slips etc. Course, if they pull it off then its all the more impressive… and actually I think both of them have done ok so far. March 14, 2008 at 2:29 pm #121671 AnonymousGuest Liked T3 without Sarah Connor and seeing how John faced the beginning of the future. Think if T2 had been followed directly by a Sarah Connor Chronicles-era film, it would’ve felt like too much of the same and that we would never get to see this much fabled “rise of the machines”. Now T3 has dealt with that, it’s nice to have a retcon in T:TSCC which honours the 3rd film and keeps it as a “worst case scenario” which now seems more real than ever. Going off topic, I’m now half way through season 2 of Galactica and bloody loving it.
