Mind you, I think they just felt it was too early to announce anything officially and were feeling a bit left out in the cold with all the excitement flying around that didn’t come from their mouths per se… October 13, 2009 at 9:21 pm #104632 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Fuck Dave, they’ve been heavily hinting at this for ages! October 13, 2009 at 9:30 pm #104634 Dax101Participant dave come accross as a channel full of idiots to handle shows like red dwarf :( i mean i read somewhere that they asked doug naylor to make the red dwarf movie with them, and yet look at the small budget they gave BTE, makes me wonder what they were hoping for with the movie *shrug* October 13, 2009 at 9:38 pm #104635 Pete Part ThreeParticipant Got a source for that? October 13, 2009 at 9:39 pm #104636 Jonathan CappsKeymaster > Got a source for that? He’s already said: “somewhere”. October 13, 2009 at 9:41 pm #104637 John HoareParticipant http://uktv.co.uk/dave/article/aid/630663 This is fucking hilarious. Hooray for stupid politics! October 13, 2009 at 9:45 pm #104638 hummingbirdParticipant if there is any news, any news at all!! You will hear about it on joindave.co.uk first! Or maybe not. October 13, 2009 at 9:59 pm #104639 Squeaky GibsonParticipant I bet once they get all contracts signed and get funding etc, it won’t be specualtion and they’ll be making a lot of fuss! October 13, 2009 at 10:00 pm #104640 Pete Part ThreeParticipant >He?s already said: ?somewhere?. Fair enough, because they are quite reliable. I learnt from the same place that there’s a 13th Fawlty Towers episode, Michael Jackson is still alive and The Sarah Connor Chronicles is getting a third season. October 13, 2009 at 10:21 pm #104642 Dax101Participant “somewhere” being SFX magazine, june 2009 :P October 14, 2009 at 1:57 am #104656 The PerformingMonkeyParticipant SFX can go fuck themselves after their ‘review’ of BtE. Not that this is relevant atm but…they just can. October 14, 2009 at 6:06 am #104665 redhead85Participant It should all go smoothly from Doug’s scriptwriting to shooting and eventual air next year, but I think Dave are trying to get all eyes back on them again with the whole ‘WE’LL say when a new series of Red Dwarf is going to be announced, don’t worry folks’. October 14, 2009 at 6:45 am #104666 Seb PatrickKeymaster I like how in the website writer’s attempt to save face, they’re essentially calling Doug Naylor a liar. October 14, 2009 at 10:07 am #104674 TrenaParticipant I still chuckle at the utterly clueless sods at the BBC who passed up the chance to launch a ninth series. October 14, 2009 at 10:25 am #104675 J_SpacedParticipant I, apparently, am a two-faced double-standards grammar wierdo. I can cope with the Official Site forum thread stating that “Dave deny’s new series” with a wry smile and a shrug. Who is Dave deny and what is his new series? But the fact!! That Dave’s own site!! Broke up a single sentence!! With unneccessary punctuation!! Makes me think they were away on the day the brains were being handed out. October 14, 2009 at 10:26 am #104676 GwynnieParticipant Oh dear, what have you started (in particular, Bobby Llew… and Seb)? ;) Let’s hope they don’t get too pissed off with Doug for revealing it too soon and pull funding. Of course, if they do, we can go kick them in the eyes. October 14, 2009 at 11:44 am #104683 JonsmadParticipant Do they realise how dedicated, sci fi news enthusiasm styled, and latest technology net wise savy most of the Red Dwarf audience is, world wide. Do they have a clue how Dimension Jump is the focal point of hardcore fandom and so totally the place to make news announcements first about Red Dwarf, certainly after years of the tradition and some of the previous announcements. They should have sent a few people and made something of the annoucement there and filmed it and whacked it straight up videowise on their website, all together, instead of a silly little statement like this. Even if they just see this stage as a script commission not a series being made. Especially when over all this era that brought back to earth was very highly achieving in online use, and public event promotioning. As it is, what they are saying is just really silly. It’s not started. It’s started. October 14, 2009 at 12:43 pm #104684 DaveParticipant They will deny it three times… October 14, 2009 at 1:01 pm #104685 Mr FlibbleParticipant It seems to me that Dave don’t realise how important telling the fanbase is… October 14, 2009 at 1:04 pm #104686 Seb PatrickKeymaster Nor that, while they may be the ones paying for it this time, they don’t actually own the franchise, and so their website doesn’t have a divine right to be the first to inform people. October 14, 2009 at 1:29 pm #104687 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Besides, they should make any announcements DOWN THE PUB WIV THE LADS, not on their silly geeky website. October 14, 2009 at 1:43 pm #104688 Pete Part ThreeParticipant They should schedule a televised announcement and then, at a crucial moment, abruptly cut to Mitchell and Webb dressed a chickens. October 14, 2009 at 5:18 pm #104699 Dax101Participant dave have gained red dwarf fans support, if they turn down making a new series that would turn alot of fans against them its like them promising something that they decide not to deliver October 14, 2009 at 6:05 pm #104704 hummingbirdParticipant It looks like they’ve now revised the tone of their article Well, you may have heard some rumours rumbling around deep space about Doug Naylor working on some more script ideas and this is indeed true. But, without wishing to sound like a big old party pooper, it’s still early days and we can’t officially announce anything definite at the moment, much as we’d love to. *amused* October 14, 2009 at 6:07 pm #104705 JoParticipant Sounds like they finally found out that it was Doug who announced it, rather than just believing all the reports that it was Bobby. October 14, 2009 at 6:24 pm #104706 ori-STUDFARMParticipant But we were all told to keep shtum! I never heard a thing! October 14, 2009 at 7:50 pm #104715 Dax101Participant so a load of excited red dwarf fans were told to keep quiet? and not post it on the internet? shocking!!! sounds abit strange and was never gonna be kept quiet October 14, 2009 at 8:53 pm #104724 TrenaParticipant We were told to keep quiet, but 400 hardcore Dwarf nerds in a room become a slightly scary, quite clammy and oily force after a few tidbits of good news. October 14, 2009 at 8:58 pm #104726 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Even if everyone stayed quiet, Rob still would’ve mentioned it on Twitter. October 14, 2009 at 8:59 pm #104727 TrenaParticipant He has to, Sarah Brown and Robert keep Twitter afloat nowadays. October 14, 2009 at 9:11 pm #104729 Tarka DalParticipant Who’s Sarah Brown? October 14, 2009 at 9:21 pm #104730 TrenaParticipant She’s shagging Gordon. It paints a sadly vivid picture. October 14, 2009 at 9:39 pm #104734 siParticipant She?s shagging Gordon. It paints a sadly vivid picture. It needs to be vivid for old ‘Golden’. He has some depth perception issues. October 14, 2009 at 10:00 pm #104735 TrenaParticipant I’m blind in my left eye as well you wildly insensitive clod. I can’t watch a 3D movie to save myself, which makes me quietly weep inside as people around me delight in the recent Toy Story double bill. October 15, 2009 at 3:54 pm #104769 Mr FlibbleParticipant You could quickly move the lenses back and forth past your good eye? October 15, 2009 at 10:53 pm #104787 Kris CarterParticipant What about other visual effects, like split screen, slow motion, quantel? ;) October 16, 2009 at 9:39 am #104814 Steve HarrisParticipant Unless I’ve missed something, I cant really see what the fuss is about. Given GNP’s previous age old policy of not announcing anything until it’s written in stone, surely this is just advising caution. At least they’ve confirmed that things are going on in the background. It seems to me that Dave are simply doing what TOS have been doing for 10 years. October 16, 2009 at 9:58 am #104818 DaveParticipant >It seems to me that Dave are simply doing what TOS have been doing for 10 years. And depending on today’s TOS update, may still be doing. October 16, 2009 at 9:59 am #104820 littlesmeggerParticipant > …as people around me delight in the recent Toy Story double bill. Speaking of the double bill, does anyone know the reason the UK has been ripped off and had the two films split up, therefore making us have to pay twice. We should’ve had the double bill just like everyone else. *shakes fist* October 16, 2009 at 4:15 pm #104861 hummingbirdParticipant > Unless I?ve missed something, I cant really see what the fuss is about. The first draft of that article was tantamount to calling Doug a liar. October 16, 2009 at 5:11 pm #104867 Steve HarrisParticipant Well, clearly I have missed something then.. October 16, 2009 at 5:26 pm #104871 Steve HarrisParticipant It is an interesting turn of events though.. Many’s the time that GNP have been accused of missing the boat when it comes to giving out news. The policy is (or was) always to hang fire on stuff until it was set in stone, often being beaten to the announcement by this very site (other sites are available of course). Mr Llewellyn was publically reigned in over BTE snippets let slip in advance! Surely, Andrew and/or Doug must be fairly sure of their facts therefore. Having said that, the fact that Doug is working on scripts and that talks are ongoing (commissioned or not)doesn’t mean that everything is signed, sealed and delivered quite yet. Which is what I read into Daves message really, but then, I wasn’t aware of a different draft. October 16, 2009 at 5:31 pm #104873 Tarka DalParticipant > (other sites are available of course). SEIZE HIM! A NON-BELIEVAAAAAAAAAH! October 16, 2009 at 5:35 pm #104875 Steve HarrisParticipant Pft, what about TRD for instance then? Ok, it’s a fair cop, someone shoot me… October 17, 2009 at 3:55 pm #104934 Tarka DalParticipant I’m only kidding Darling.
