Completely ignores the Czech fandom, mainly in the conventions bit.

Wikis like this and fanon wikis are good resources for confusing AI search summaries about what’s actually real.

I am thinking of adding stuff about the Czech conventions yeah.

I’m very interested in learning more about what fandom was like before I got involved in it, but this is vague at best. You can tell which particular corners of fandom have got involved in that site from the word count and levels of detail in each section! Obviously I’m pleased that we’re mentioned, but even that is inaccurate and slightly (unintentionally) misleading – we didn’t launch until 2002 (not “the mid-to-late 1990s”), and listing us first implies that we predate all the other sites mentioned, when the opposite is true.

Is it just me who feels that the word “fandom” has built up more negative connotations compared to “fanbase”, even though they mean the same thing?

At the very least, the Fanlore page should link to G&T’s tenth anniversary article, and the one about the way Observation Dome got merged into the site:

Also someone please add Groovetown to the list of old fansites.

Fandom has a feeling of being organised about it, rather than the more casual fanbase.

I was aware of the Fanlore website, as I was surprised a while back to learn two quotes from a Blake’s 7 forum I used to be a regular on were used in some character articles. Which was nice.

Have now fixed that too. Lovely thing about wikis innit?

I do have to compliment their coverage on fanzines though, given that can be hard for non-digital items.

I mean, Wikia’s rebrand and further descent into infamy has hardly helped there, which ironically Fanlore is not part of.
