It’s always struck me as weird that they’ve never been printed anywhere as is de rigeur for most ‘classic’ audience shows, and they’re one of the very, very few things that Andrew Ellard never got around to writing an article on at his peak of paperwork pervery. We know pretty much the recording orders, and virtually the Dave era dates, but the rest is still unconfirmed, is that right? Even a massive book on the making of Gunmen doesn’t have the date it was made, bar stating it was a Saturday. There are also some dates listed in the VIII book, but even considering all the reshooting and shared studio nights they still look very weird and inaccurate (or misleading at best) to me. As for VII, though we know it was shot differently and more loosely to accomodate the revolving cast changes and elaborate set pieces, surely it was filmed vaguely in episode blocks just for rehearsal/production management reasons? Would this be a good collaborative project, or even possible? I’m kicking myself for never getting them off INFAX at the time, but maybe someone did? Here’s what I found during a ‘can this be done?’ trawl: DAVE ERA BACK TO EARTH Shot between 31/1/09 and 6/3/09 SERIES X Trojan 16/12/11 Fathers And Suns 23/12/11 Lemons 7/1/12 Entangled 13/1/16 (first two thirds), ? Xtended Bodysnatcher reading Children In Need (same day as BITR3?) So… is anyone sitting on a big treasure trove of sexy RX dates? Is this worth making a frankly pornographic spreadsheet? September 4, 2016 at 8:42 pm #214858 Seb PatrickKeymaster Uh. They’re all on TOS. In the “Complete Guide” section. September 4, 2016 at 9:56 pm #214859 (deleted)Participant Shit the bed, so they are. I’d never clicked that tab before, always assumed it was a link back to the previous menu. I’ve never got on with that drop-down navigation, which is a shame because all the text is book-quality. I swear I spent ages looking for them earlier. Ah well, it was far from in vain, and there are still a few to pin down. Permission to… poo myself, sir. September 5, 2016 at 8:36 am #214863 Seb PatrickKeymaster It is a bit of a fiddly navigation, and something I’ve wanted to fix for a while. Watch this space. September 5, 2016 at 10:07 am #214864 McAleeChParticipant …Except for Series VII, for some reason. Do we have a list of dates for that series? I know it was shot in a more film/drama-like manner than other ‘Dwarf series (i.e. single camera, no audience) – do we know if the episodes were shot in defined ‘blocks’ at all, or were scenes from multiple episodes shot simultanously? The latter would certainly explain the lack of any recording dates, I guess – would be a nightmare to pin down what got shot when… September 5, 2016 at 10:10 am #214865 McAleeChParticipant (Above post was supposed to be a reply to Seb’s comment that all the dates are up on TOS – edit function seems to be broken so can’t go back and quote his post to make that clearer. Apologies!) September 5, 2016 at 11:39 am #214866 (deleted)Participant Series VII would surely have had to have been done in blocks for Chris Barrie reasons alone (block 1 would have to have been Tikka/Clipper/prefilming for Blue & Ouroboros, and the last block seems to have been Duct Soup on its own), but surely it was still rehearsed, which would mean it was kept roughly to an episode order. I would buy a book of series VII filming schedules. Not even remotely joking. September 5, 2016 at 4:51 pm #214869 thomasaevansParticipant In all seriousness – we’re due a book. Red Dwarf Vault? September 5, 2016 at 10:54 pm #214871 siParticipant Well, there’s Total Immersion. I still haven’t got all the way through that. An encyclopedia isn’t thenkind of book that lends itself to a complete cover-to-cover reading. It’s a flick-through-and-see-lots-of-interesting-entries kind of book. An updated edition of The Programme Guide would be nice, but I don’t think it unreasonable for there to be some kind of Dwarfy biblio-explosion around the thirtierth anniversary. September 16, 2016 at 10:47 am #215955 Ian SymesKeymaster You’ve basically become some sort of clairvoyant in recent weeks. Or a spy. He’s blatantly a spy. September 16, 2016 at 10:54 am #215956 (deleted)Participant I wish I’d have mentioned on here and not just a Messenger chat with someone the other week about “four Chris Barries in barbershop quartet gear”, but I’m worrying myself too. September 16, 2016 at 12:08 pm #215958 Seb PatrickKeymaster TOS update features ludicrously prominent RX dates. Take a bow. I know you won’t believe me, but these (and the whole grid-based nav for the Guide in general) were a feature of a layout I proposed last year, that for various reasons didn’t end up happening back then, but which we were able to work into this one instead. I promise you that the timing of this thread was just a coincidence! You’ll note that my “watch this space” was no idle boast… Author Posts Viewing 14 posts - 1 through 14 (of 14 total) Scroll to top • Scroll to Recent Forum Posts You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
