I was too young to make this comparison when the series aired on 4, but Kryten really Is so much like Herman from the Munsters – especially In this opening scene and the title sequence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62sLudJljM0&feature=related Though there’s a reference in Red Dwarf about him being Herman Munster’s stuntman, has Robert ever said on record that he drew any inspiration from him? Not on the DVD doc’s for sure. He certainly talks about Kryten’s laugh bing “very Herman Munster.” March 9, 2012 at 12:05 am #115807 pfmParticipant Herman Munster crossed with Kelsey Grammer! Something that never fails to tickle me (yeah, I’m simple…) is the fact that Kelsey Grammer’s wife is called Camille. :D March 9, 2012 at 12:34 am #115809 srmcd1Participant So am I not the only one who thinks Kelsey Grammer would’ve made a good Kryten? And in Niles and Martin we have a less extreme version of the Rimmer/Lister contrast between an obsessive neurotic and a slob. Bebe Neuwirth’s Lilith only appears in a few episodes, like Kochanski. (Of course the difference is that all the Lilith episodes of Frasier are consistently among the programme’s absolute highlights, whereas the Kochanski episodes of RD aren’t.) And Tom McGowan who played Kenny the radio station manager has some similarities to Captain Hollister I can’t quite put my finger on… So that leaves Peri Gilpin to play the Cat (hey, the US pilot had a female Cat!)… and Maris as Rachel. … yeah, this could work quite well!
