How old are Rob and Doug?

Question in the title. I can’t see any dates on Wiki or Imdb for them. I would guess fifty plus maybe a couple of years but I’m really not sure. I thought it was worthwhile knowing how close to the age of the cast they were – I remember Craig Charles saying ‘Rob and Doug started off as one of the boys’ and in the new S1 doc Paul Jackson talking about having to be mature when he was 39, so it seemed a kind of important what age they were when the programme started at least.

I don’t think they were far out of Uni (in fact, I think they both dropped out after a year or so?) when they started doing radio scripts in the late ’70s. So I’m guessing they were born… mid 1950s? I think you’re probably right – I’d guess they’re somewhere between 50 and 55 (and quite similar ages, given when they met each other).

I’m sure in the ‘about the author’ section of one of their efforts – joint or individual, I can’t be sure – there’s an alludance to a ‘botched genetic experiment which took place in the late 1950’s’.
