You don’t need an H, just a felt tip.

Just think, the new episodes could be cancelled if someone leaves the top off a pen.

you sure they can afford a pen ? may have to settle for pencil or a piece of chalk

They could write it on the camera lens and always place Rimmer in the same place, that way if the worst happens and the felt tip runs out Rimmer can still have a H but he can’t move without the camera moving the same way he does.

May have to settle for pencil or a piece of chalk.

They’ll be used for the models of Red Dwarf and White Midget, respectively.

The Banker and his evil laugh. Or one of the Power Five. Just have an open box in front of a black screen, the lid flaps open and shut like a mouth and the voice is sound clips of someone bringing up bile after they’ve walked away with 50p when they just turned down an offer of ?40,000 like the biggest, greediest idiot on television.

Why are GNP always so strapped for cash? (ie. tiny budget for latest episodes, no means to make a movie etc.)

I mean, I’m sure they don’t have a couple million going spare to just make a movie of course, but surely they could put a bit of money into new projects? Drum up cash for a movie by contributing towards the budget themselves?

It’s not like they haven’t released about 12 international best-selling DVDs over the last few years, or sold the programme to channels all over the world etc. There must be SOME cash in the coffers.

thats what iv always thought i mean the amount of dvd sales and just the sucsess of the series in general …. and i mean if the league of gentlemen can have a movie( which i think is crap) then why not dwarf

It hardly cost anything to make. They saved money by shooting 90% of it in Ireland and not using film. The Dwarf movie needed a bigger budget otherwise they might as well have just stuck to TV. That’s one criticism of the League film, the series itself was already pretty film-like so it didn’t feel like much of a step up in scale (aside from the bits of CGI and the excellent stop-motion creature!). Dwarf always did wonders with a sitcom budget. Imagine what they could have done with ?15 million or so! Sadly I DO feel they would have struggled to make it back (at least at the box office). That’s obviously the main reason for investors pulling out.

    Wasn’t this the actual case?

As Cheeky Monkey says there was a desire for a Dwarf movie to look visually like a movie. I’ve mentioned it before, but look at Galaxy Quest. It’s sci-fi comedy, rather than straight sci-fi but the big set-pieces and visual FX all look the part. Infact some of visuals look better than in some straight sci-fi action movies. Unfortunately that kind of things costs an awful lot of money.

Galaxy Quest is a good example of what they should have been aiming for.
I would love to have seen what they could do with the same budget.

Thought he’d be all over the site now – what with the specials, n’all.
