Leela’s outfit is always interesting. May 8, 2009 at 2:07 pm #98659 Ben PaddonParticipant Terrance Dicks is a cracking fella. Always fun to listen to his commentaries and watch him natter on the classic Who DVD documentaries. He is, however, an utterly atrocious writer. May 8, 2009 at 4:44 pm #98665 Seb PatrickKeymaster MmmmmI think that’s a bit unfair – Brain of Morbius? The bajillions of Target novelisations he did? He’s a bit of an outdated writer, and he’s written some dreck, but I wouldn’t call him “utterly atrocious”. May 8, 2009 at 7:16 pm #98669 JamesTCParticipant I wouldn’t say ‘The Brain of Morbius’ was Terrance, he himself denied the creditg of the story after Robert Holmes’ re-write. He has written ‘The Five Doctors’ and ‘State of Decay’ which were both quite good and he was co=writer on the story that is nothing short of amazing, ‘The War Games’. May 8, 2009 at 11:15 pm #98676 JamesTCParticipant How much bollocks can one tabloid newspaper come up with? Being the Sun you can see loads. Before you say this is not spoilers for Series 5 because it is complete shite – http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article2417822.ece “Who boss Russell T Davies said there would be an ?Indiana Jones-type chamber hidden beneath the floor with sliding stone doors and stuff?.” If they are going to make shit up they could atleast make it accurate. May 9, 2009 at 10:12 am #98681 Ben PaddonParticipant The Target novelizations are cracking by virtue of the fact that Dicks didn’t have to write them. He just had to adapt them, and even then he changed plot elements of certain stories here and there. Read his New Who stuff – the “Quick Reads”. They’re bollocks. “The Eight Doctors” is also unashamedly shit. And while, yes, “The Five Doctors” is a lot of fun it certainly isn’t that great of a story. Dicks can adapt, but he can’t write to save his life. May 9, 2009 at 2:27 pm #98684 Seb PatrickKeymaster How much bollocks can one tabloid newspaper come up with? Being the Sun you can see loads. If they are going to make shit up they could atleast make it accurate. HAHAHAHAHAHA. So they’ve got comments from a writer who WON’T BE INVOLVED WITH THE SHOW when Matt Smith is the Doctor. Superlolz. Also, wasn’t Gatiss’ WW2 story something originally planned, but ditched, for series four? I’m pretty sure that was in the Writers Tale, right? May 9, 2009 at 10:26 pm #98705 DaveParticipant >Also, wasn?t Gatiss? WW2 story something originally planned, but ditched, for series four? I?m pretty sure that was in the Writers Tale, right? Yep. Although that could also mean it was the first script Moffatt read when he took over, and maybe he loved it. May 11, 2009 at 2:42 pm #98773 JamesTCParticipant Yay, ‘The Deadly Assassin’ for a lovely ?12.71. Up to part 3 now, I think Co-Ordinator Engin deserves a spin-off. May 17, 2009 at 1:23 pm #98970 DaveParticipant Since 2005 the new Doctor Who has done wonders to convince the public that fans are not all twats. Until now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICW9Phb9k1M May 17, 2009 at 1:27 pm #98971 JamesTCParticipant Mara doesn’t look so bad now eh? May 17, 2009 at 1:28 pm #98972 JamesTCParticipant The first woman looks like a pink version of the cat people out of ‘Survival’. May 17, 2009 at 1:40 pm #98973 DaveParticipant The first woman makes the cat people out of ?Survival? look like fucking Shaft. May 17, 2009 at 2:56 pm #98978 ChrisMParticipant Ha, ha! I missed that at the time. Barrowman falls off his chair laughing and clutches a booby to stop his descent. Classic. May 19, 2009 at 6:44 pm #99029 JamesTCParticipant Oh my, they got his name wrong again. May 19, 2009 at 6:44 pm #99030 JamesTCParticipant Oh my, they got his name wrong again. May 19, 2009 at 7:15 pm #99031 Ian SymesKeymaster Not again! May 19, 2009 at 7:48 pm #99033 JamesTCParticipant They got it wrong a few weeks back when the first ‘The War Games’ set was put up there. May 22, 2009 at 4:40 pm #99083 siParticipant There’s a short interview on the Beeb’s front page with Russell the T. He says that they finish filming tomorrow, but more importantly, for all you people with a similar inclination to my little sister, David Tennant FINISHED YESTERDAY. http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/arts May 22, 2009 at 5:01 pm #99085 JamesTCParticipant I wonder if Matt Smith will just film a pick up scene when he starts or if he filmed at the same time as Tennant for the regeneration. May 22, 2009 at 6:49 pm #99092 AndrewParticipant > I wonder if Matt Smith will just film a pick up scene when he starts or if he filmed at the same time as Tennant for the regeneration. Seems massively unlikely they wouldn’t be there together. The sheer practicalities of shooting a regeneration would make a pick-up a massive undertaking – same set has to be in place, lit and decorated in exactly the same way, matching the camera angles… It’s a waste of effort when you could just yell ‘Okay freeze…and David step out…Matt step in…and action!” May 22, 2009 at 6:55 pm #99093 JamesTCParticipant Maybe they will dress Matt like Tennant, we won’t see his face, the Rani will then fire at the TARDIS and it will crash and the Doctor will get a bump on the noggin to regenerate. May 22, 2009 at 7:06 pm #99095 DaveParticipant >Seems massively unlikely they wouldn?t be there together. The sheer practicalities of shooting a regeneration would make a pick-up a massive undertaking – same set has to be in place, lit and decorated in exactly the same way, matching the camera angles? That is precisely what they did for Christopher Eccleston’s exit/David Tennant’s debut. May 22, 2009 at 8:20 pm #99096 AndrewParticipant Yeah, but at that point they were hoping to keep the regeneration secret – which is hardly the case this time. May 29, 2009 at 12:56 pm #99259 Seb PatrickKeymaster I think I’m in love. May 29, 2009 at 1:38 pm #99260 JamesTCParticipant Wait what? Is that the new companion? When the fuck was this announced? May 29, 2009 at 1:40 pm #99261 RadParticipant Yeah, full marks for this first impression. Not sure how the BBC thinks Lizo from Newsround is an ‘insider’. He hasn’t learned how to speak to adults yet. May 29, 2009 at 1:43 pm #99262 JamesTCParticipant Ahh a breath of fresh air, a series companion who isn’t from London. And she is someone joining a list of people to play a small part in Doctor Who and then go on to play a big part – Nicholas Courtney, Colin Baker, Lisa Bowerman, Freema Agyeman ect. May 29, 2009 at 2:35 pm #99264 Seb PatrickKeymaster Is it just me, or does the TARDIS look a bit different? It looks a bit more battered, and… has Moffat gone and bloody fixed the windows? May 29, 2009 at 9:25 pm #99267 ChrisMParticipant A bit of info here: http://www.gallifreyone.com/news.php#newsitemEkuFVAAApEyQIHNbKI Apparently she was the soothsayer in ‘The Fires of Pompeii’. May 29, 2009 at 9:48 pm #99268 JamesTCParticipant > Apparently she was the soothsayer in ?The Fires of Pompeii?. Which is why I said – “And she is someone joining a list of people to play a small part in Doctor Who and then go on to play a big part – Nicholas Courtney, Colin Baker, Lisa Bowerman, Freema Agyeman ect.” I can add David Tennant to that list. May 29, 2009 at 9:53 pm #99269 Pete Part ThreeParticipant What do you want; a biscuit? May 29, 2009 at 9:56 pm #99270 ChrisMParticipant >Which is why I said – I guessed that. I added more info though as to WHAT she did. May 29, 2009 at 9:59 pm #99271 JamesTCParticipant >What do you want; a biscuit? Depends on what you got. May 29, 2009 at 11:34 pm #99277 Seb PatrickKeymaster >What do you want? Karen Gillan in my house right now please. May 29, 2009 at 11:51 pm #99279 JamesTCParticipant She should be Jamie McCrimmon’s great great great great great great great great grand-daughter. May 29, 2009 at 11:52 pm #99278 pfmParticipant > I think I?m in love. THIS. She’s 5’11” though so I’d have to stand on my bloody tiptoes to kiss her beautiful ginger face! Firstly let’s actually say her name – KAREN GILLAN. She’s 21 and not been in much except the fucking Kevin Bishop Show, though from a couple of clips I’ve now seen of her in that she’s just brilliant, gorgeous, talented, she can be funny, do decent serious acting, do voices, SHE’S FUCKING SCOTTISH MOFFAT THERE WITH THE AGENDA FROM THE OFF, more importantly she’s NOT Southern. They better not make her speak like she’s from the South East either or I will make them pay. Scottish accent all the way. I know that’s NOT the character’s look in the promo pics but I would so love her to have that style. She looks so cool, sweet and sexy standing in front of the Tardis. I pray they don’t chav her up to ‘relate’ to the masses. She may not be from 2010 Britain though (unlikely). She would probably look just as great in Georgian attire as contemporary. OK OK the bottom line is her acting ability. And her gorgeousness. Nice one Moffat. Btw who has her as their background? Thank god the Tardis is in shot (and yes looking like it needs a lick of Cuprinol Garden Shades Barleywood or something) because that gives me the excuse ‘It’s Doctor Who! The new companion!!’ otherwise I would probably be dead now. May 29, 2009 at 11:59 pm #99280 pfmParticipant > She should be Jamie McCrimmon?s great great great great great great great great grand-daughter. Hannah McCrimmon could be a good name. Maybe. Or they could just call her Jamie. May 30, 2009 at 12:18 am #99282 DaveParticipant >She should be Jamie McCrimmon?s great great great great great great great great grand-daughter Well to be fair she could just as easily be Jamie McCrimmon?s great great great great great great great great grandmother May 30, 2009 at 12:29 am #99284 pfmParticipant Is her name Holly? May 30, 2009 at 12:59 am #99285 Ian SymesKeymaster “Is her name Holly?” May 30, 2009 at 8:58 am #99290 siParticipant >Is her name Holly? >”Is her name Holly?” *applauds* May 30, 2009 at 6:53 pm #99310 JamesTCParticipant Om nom nom nom nom nom http://www.bookingsmodels.co.uk/details.aspx?nav=0&modelID=393822&%20amp;indx=&subid=5583&mainsubid=5583 Me like Karen May 30, 2009 at 8:21 pm #99327 siParticipant If she’d got green hair and red eyes, I might like her even more. May 30, 2009 at 10:22 pm #99336 ChrisMParticipant Ah, I’ve seen those pics. before. She looks incredibly childlike in the first picture. Pretty girl though. May 30, 2009 at 11:22 pm #99339 pfmParticipant > If she?d got green hair and red eyes, I might like her even more. That’s the stupid way round. October 7, 2009 at 1:55 pm #104253 DaveParticipant Anyone else miss the good old days when Marleen was still working her way through Who? October 7, 2009 at 8:30 pm #104171 ChrisMParticipant Heh. I was just thinking about that yesterday when I saw Marleen turn up on the new Doctor Who spoilers thread. Speaking as someone who hasn’t watched much old Who, she is probably level (if not ahead) of me now.
