A shooter/adventure game, cartoony/photo-realistic graphics, etc..? I vaguely recall in an interview, Rob Grant mentioning that at one stage, he and Doug had looked over a game version – anyone know how far it got? Though hopefully better looking than the mobisodes! I think an episodic adventure game is probably the best format as well. Since the Dwarfers aren’t particularly athletic or good at handling weapons, the standard “walk around talking and pick stuff up” format fits fine. Probably playing as Lister and occasionally Rimmer as well. Hell, even Kryten, Kochanski and Cat! It’d have to have the original cast as well, but there are a lot of lines to record in an adventure game, so if not all of them are willing, Chris Barrie doing impressions of the others would be fine too. That way we could have Norman’s Holly back! June 2, 2009 at 6:27 pm #99509 p2p_productionsParticipant There’s a game called Project Eden where you can switch between members of a four-man team during gameplay and use their unique abilities to achieve different goals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Eden Kryten could do the tech stuff (fix door locks, Xpress Lifts, etc). Cat could access hard to reach places – Rimmer too with walking through walls, etc. And Lister could be the tough-guy with upgradable Bazookoid. There’d have to be a ‘piloting Starbug’ stage too, surely. June 2, 2009 at 6:27 pm #99511 Danny StephensonKeymaster Why does this game not exist!!!! :'( June 2, 2009 at 6:30 pm #99512 DaveParticipant I remember it being mentioned in a Smegazine. I don’t know much about computer games but I’d have loved a Monkey Island style game. I’ve played the Futurama game and although I enjoyed it I was disappointed there wasn’t a spaceship flight simulator level with the Planet Express ship. June 2, 2009 at 6:34 pm #99513 p2p_productionsParticipant Personally, I’d just love to wander around Starbug and the Sleeping Quarters mid-mission. Apparently, in the new Ghostbusters game, you can explore the firehouse to your heart’s content. June 2, 2009 at 6:36 pm #99515 Danny StephensonKeymaster How about Lego: Red Dwarf, The Video Game. :) The Star Wars and the Indiana Jones ones kick ass! June 2, 2009 at 7:59 pm #99519 JamesTCParticipant I had Project Eden, it was pretty good, kept crashing at a certain point so I stopped playing. June 2, 2009 at 9:26 pm #99536 Bob LoblawParticipant Pete: Part 3 – Pete 2. Pete’s offspring rampages through the ship and you have to, y’know, time wand and all that. Um… Ace Rimmer and Dwayne Dibbley are also there! June 2, 2009 at 9:35 pm #99540 Smeg4BrainsParticipant Back to Earth levels available to download from Xbox Live and Playstation Store. June 2, 2009 at 10:33 pm #99551 JamesTCParticipant If a Red Dwarf game were to be released then Series VI would be the best time to set it. I think if it was made like Mass Effect it would be great, what I mean is a main set of missions as well as a hell of a load of side missions. It would also be the greatest thing ever to be able to fly Starbug, if I could do that I wouldn’t put the controller down. June 3, 2009 at 12:10 am #99554 Smeg4BrainsParticipant Don’t know if anyone has seen this rather exciting development from Sony at E3 but look around 4:45. As soon as I saw that I thought “Holowhip”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgLN7uOj8Jg June 3, 2009 at 6:34 am #99561 Ben PaddonParticipant Episodic point ‘n’ click adventure game. The sort of thing Telltale are doing. In fact, hahaha, make that Series IX and let it tie in nicely to the start of BtE. June 3, 2009 at 12:44 pm #99577 Stabbim the SkutterParticipant Ah, that’s a good idea. June 3, 2009 at 12:58 pm #99578 siParticipant >look around 4:45. As soon as I saw that I thought ?Holowhip?. My God, absolutely. June 4, 2009 at 8:57 am #99612 J_SpacedParticipant He left the “P” off at 5:45… June 5, 2009 at 4:21 pm #99647 Stabbim the SkutterParticipant Come to think of it, a Lost Vikings clone could work too. You’d have to use each character’s personal abilities to complete each level, i.e. Cat being able to jump and swipe at enemies, Rimmer with a holowhip which he can use to attack and grab onto things, Lister with “boost-shoes” nicked from Petersen’s locker that enable him to jump high and run fast, and the ability to swim (Kryten and Rimmer’s electronics would break down and “cats don’t like water, man!”) and Kryten would be able to break down walls, carry heavy objects and operate machines and things. And Kochanski could…oh, I dunno. Give her a plot device that enables her to fly or shrink or something. I also kind of like the idea of each episode having a minigame. Red Dwarf Party, anyone? June 5, 2009 at 7:56 pm #99649 Ben PaddonParticipant Surely it’d be better if Rimmer, being a hologram, could walk through certain walls (e.g. metal railings, iron bars… the sort of thing he can fit his Light Bee through). June 5, 2009 at 11:05 pm #99655 p2p_productionsParticipant >Surely it?d be better if Rimmer, being a hologram, could walk through certain walls (e.g. metal railings, iron bars? the sort of thing he can fit his Light Bee through). Fanastic idea. Or maybe, just for the first two missions, Rimmer’s Light Bee has gone missing, having been stolen by the invading Simulants, hell-bent on taking over the ship. As he is operating on ship projectors only, the objective of Mission Three is to recover the Bee so that Rimmer can become a fully-fledged member of the team… Or something. June 6, 2009 at 12:31 am #99658 Danny StephensonKeymaster yeah, like an unlockable character. June 6, 2009 at 12:36 am #99659 JamesTCParticipant I think the novels ‘Backwards’ and ‘Last Human’ would be great as a game, especially ‘Last Human’, it would be wonderful going round the Gelf worlds and selling sperm. Plus you can play as Rimmer in ‘Backwards’ in the bit were he needs to use his light bee to move the non-voice operated fork lift. June 6, 2009 at 2:07 am #99663 pfmParticipant > it would be wonderful going round the Gelf worlds and selling sperm. Finally the Wii remote would get its true calling. June 7, 2009 at 1:33 pm #99686 JonsmadParticipant There should be sub games of Zero G Football, junior angler, unicycle polo, pin the pointy stick on the weather girl, gumshoe, streets of laredo, soap sud slalom, and a text adventure where you can buy a potion from gandalf the magic wizard. June 7, 2009 at 3:04 pm #99687 JamesTCParticipant Don’t forget the ever popular What’s in the bag! June 7, 2009 at 4:09 pm #99689 Stabbim the SkutterParticipant Match the Body Part to the Crew Member! June 7, 2009 at 6:07 pm #99692 JamesTCParticipant Guess whose botty is sticking out of the curtain. June 7, 2009 at 8:19 pm #99693 p2p_productionsParticipant Armpit name that tune… June 7, 2009 at 9:46 pm #99694 Ben PaddonParticipant The Magic Flute! …Anyone? June 7, 2009 at 9:56 pm #99695 JamesTCParticipant Durex Volleyball and Table Golf. June 7, 2009 at 10:33 pm #99696 siParticipant Junior Angler’s the best you’re gonna get from me.
