I thought it might be worth having a new thread to compare notes in advance of the official G&T review. January 10, 2019 at 5:19 pm #242161 MANI506Participant I’m as excited as an extremely excited person who has a special reason to be excited. Sadly I live in the US and even though I have a blu ray player it isn’t multi region. I do have all the American DVDs though (having previously purchased British VHS & DVD) and I’m looking forward to the reviews and analysis! January 10, 2019 at 11:45 pm #242166 Stabbim the SkutterParticipant It would feel wrong if the members of G&T were to like it, let alone consider it an improvement. I look forward to reading all the negative comments and articles surrounding this release. ;) January 11, 2019 at 1:41 am #242170 MoonlightParticipant I await the moment it turns out they James Cameroned Series III with DNR so intense it turns the picture into a smudge painting. January 11, 2019 at 1:54 am #242172 WarbodogParticipant Colour grading/timing is the only thing I’m slightly worried about. Please don’t turn the beige/cream into white or pour a teal tint over everything like Blade Runner. January 11, 2019 at 2:08 am #242175 MoonlightParticipant I dunno, if you’ve seen how horrible DNR can be then it should be pretty high on your list for concerns with the early series, primarily III. DNR is the autotuning of video clean-up; it’s way overdone and you’d almost always be better without it. I look forward to reading all the negative comments and articles surrounding this release. ;) Honestly same, I’m looking forward to the G&T article on the Blu-Ray more than I’m looking forward to the actual Blu-Ray January 11, 2019 at 3:16 am #242178 Dax101Participant I don’t have a blu-ray player so in haven’t ordered it yet. But I hope to see some footage uploaded online to see how it looks January 11, 2019 at 11:03 am #242200 siParticipant Ooh! Ooh! Mine’s just arrived! Sadly, I’m on the bus to work, so can’t actually have a nosey until this evening. January 11, 2019 at 11:46 am #242202 DaveParticipant Mine should be waiting at home too. I’ve already seen some photos of the final set and it looks like they match the promo artwork exactly – dodgy half-ramscoop included. January 11, 2019 at 1:10 pm #242204 Quinn: Clochebusters World ChampionParticipant Didn’t we figure out the half-ramscoop was just a perspective thing and it just doesn’t work in that art style? Mines coming from Amazon so probably won’t arrive until Monday :( January 11, 2019 at 1:24 pm #242206 DaveParticipant No, I think it’s that the picture has been poorly copied from a shot of the pencil-Dwarf that was at a perspective that made the top parts of the scoop hard to see, and the bottom parts look like they were coming from underneath the entire ship. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/fb/3c/4a/fb3c4a7f0983d0f498bf21d84be40192.jpg January 11, 2019 at 1:32 pm #242210 Ian SymesKeymaster Locking this thread as we now have a front page post for this purpose.
