March 22, 2009 at 8:44 pm #94402 pfmParticipant If you count Me2 it’s the only time where there’s a run of 6 utterly perfect episodes. Parallel Universe is a little dodgy IMO. March 22, 2009 at 9:21 pm #94405 Ben PaddonParticipant Everything apart from the finale, where Jeff’s old childhood “friend” turns up to ask him to solve the mystery of what’s happening at his father’s department store. It was very bizarre and very well-written, but it suffer from budgetary restraints and it didn’t look particularly great (even if it did wind up having a rather delicious 60s feel to it). I also object to Marty’s method of solving the case by murder, which hadn’t popped up in a while – not since the first series, if I recall correctly. It’s a shame the BBC didn’t renew it for a third series. It was a great take on a brilliant concept, and it had just gotten on its feet. Reeves and Mortimer proved themselves to be capable actors, moreso in the second series than the first. I wish Playback DVD would release series one in widescreen, though. The pan-and-scan treatment really bugs me. March 22, 2009 at 9:23 pm #94407 siParticipant What? I didn’t think there was a second series of Crime Traveller. March 22, 2009 at 9:24 pm #94408 AndrewParticipant Only one series – deviously split over two DVD releases. March 22, 2009 at 10:08 pm #94410 Pete Part ThreeParticipant Oh, I’m sorry. I thought we were talking about The Crouches. March 22, 2009 at 11:33 pm #94413 locusceruleusParticipant No one talks about The Crouches. March 23, 2009 at 12:20 am #94419 CarlitoParticipant I’d heard the language on this site was bad, but TWO “C words” in as many posts? Shocking. March 23, 2009 at 5:30 am #94425 Ben PaddonParticipant I made myself sad by talking about Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). Glod, I loved that show. March 23, 2009 at 9:38 am #94430 Mr FlibbleParticipant The original or the Reeves and Mortimer one? I never saw the original, but I liked the “new” one. March 23, 2009 at 10:08 am #94431 peas_and_cornParticipant I think the KD/Elliot thing got annoying in season 2. March 23, 2009 at 10:18 am #94432 Mr FlibbleParticipant I was never that keen on Nancy, to be honest. University Challenge is, however, one of the best episodes ever. March 23, 2009 at 11:22 am #94436 siParticipant Nick Frost is great on series two, though I don’t see the point of Sandstrom. March 23, 2009 at 12:34 pm #94443 Tarka DalParticipant > Sandstrom. I now have Sandstorm by Cast in my head. March 23, 2009 at 2:12 pm #94448 JonsmadParticipant Sandstormcast? is that another forum’s production? March 23, 2009 at 7:45 pm #94469 Ben PaddonParticipant The original or the Reeves and Mortimer one? I never saw the original, but I liked the ?new? one. The original was a staple of Saturday morning television in my house, but despite having more episodes than the remake it only lasted one season. The remake was thirteen episodes spread over two seasons, and was also brilliant. March 23, 2009 at 8:32 pm #94470 Mr FlibbleParticipant but despite having more episodes than the remake it only lasted one season. Wow. That’s surprising. It’s like the oft-quoted 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers thing. March 23, 2009 at 9:19 pm #94472 ChrisMParticipant I didn’t realise the remake was two series! I’ve seen episodes of both. Quite liked the first. (I found the episodes got a bit repetitive in structure.) Loved the remake (although there are lots of episodes I missed.) March 23, 2009 at 9:25 pm #94474 Mr FlibbleParticipant I have a book about the remake I picked up for a quid somewhere. Both seasons are only 12.99 on Play – I’m sorely tempted. From what I remember it was weird, had lots of CGI, but rather good production values and Emilia Fox was hot. March 24, 2009 at 12:57 am #94486 ChrisMParticipant I think it was the weirdness that I particularly liked about it. It wasn’t just the old PI is locked up and ghost ports about rescuing him routine. Ok, that’s a bit unfair to the original, there was some good telly there too, but it felt a bit like that sometimes. March 27, 2009 at 12:27 pm #94631 Ben PaddonParticipant Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) series one and two for ?12.99 from play.com? Nice. I already have it, obviously, but I figure it’d worth sharing with you lot. March 27, 2009 at 1:07 pm #94637 Mr FlibbleParticipant That’s OK, I only told everyone on Monday.
