In no particular order, here’s some of mine:

*”We’re talking jape of the decade…”

*”Now you have it in stereo, baby”

*”We’re going to do to Lister what Alexander the Great once did to me”

*”I knew I was lying. No Silicon Heaven? Preposterous! Where would all the calculators go?”

*The cowboy whooping at the end of Gunmen of the Apocalypse.

*”Rimmerworld was weeks ago. We’re far more concerned at the moment about the quite hideous thing that’s happened to Lister.”

*”Sigmund Freud, eat your heart out!”

    *”The world loves a bastard!”

    *”Smeg.” (after destroying Cassandra)

    *”What an absolute slag”

*”You have the Universe on speed dial???”

*”How’s that for a pokey face?”

I think of Quarantine and Me² as my favourite episodes, which have some of the worst and best punchlines respectively.

“I’m going to be an uncle.”

Dear Dave is quite the choice… I can only flash back to the debates that were had about whether Lister saying that made him a capital M Misogynist.

Despite the many issues of the episode itself “have you got a pen” is a banger

“Queeg” because I remember the first time it caught me completely off guard.

“We are talking Jape of the Decade. We are talking April, May, June, July, and August Fool.”

Best: the slime’s coming home (both of them)

    Worst: no toast

    Worst: no toast

    May I suggest:

Nowhere near as bad as no toast. It just could have been edited a bit better, or had some special effect, shown the Rimmer monster blowing up or a bazookoid…oid flying towards the camera. Nothing wrong with the line or anything. No toast is just played badly and a lazy throwback to begin with.

So I said to the guy, I said… (flicks cigarette) don’t forget what you’re gonna be putting at the bottom of the list as the last thing you’ll have written you’ll be going to have doing

I think I prefer the more philosophical endings… there’s usually a gag attached but I like it when they get a bit thought provoking. Like the end of Back to Reality or, more blatantly, Justice.

    or more blatantly, Justice

Which has a rather controversial ending gag. I do like “thank god for that”, but Lister falling and presumably seriously hurting himself is probably a bit too much.
