I think woke has become a shorthand for the kind of patronising I described, however.

It was certainly that for a while, which was when it became weaponised. It was used to describe people whose sensitivities about social issues were perceived as eclipsing the seriousness of them. Those days have passed though, and it’s become used to describe anything socially liberal. Lists of ‘woke games’ include any game that happens to include a LGBTQ+ character, regardless of whether they are there to hammer home a message or simply exist.

Its even wider than that honestly, people were freaking out over the Fable trailer being woke because they thought the main character was ugly. It sits right alongside ‘cultural marxism’ and ‘they can use third spaces’ as a signifier that whatever comes next won’t be thoughtful or engaged but simple from the heart hatred.

Know alot of people fighting the good fight find these trite catchphrases irritating and a blocker to useful discussion but honestly i kinda appreciate the obvious heads up that someone’s not worth the time. There’s a entire planet of bullshit to have a crack at, you could live a thousand years and debating someone who takes their political cues from Robert Jenrick still wouldn’t be a worthwhile use of what time you get.

Blake 7 sounds cool though, always skirted it cause Dr Who was never my jam and assumed it was a BBC thing. Shame is doesn’t seem to be streaming anywhere,  never understand why all this old shit doesn’t show up on the iplayer.

In the event that more Dwarf is produced, I wouldn’t be mad if Kryten’s CPU was moved into a model 3000 series that happens to look exactly like a 75-year old Robert Llewelyn. He’s old. We all understand that he’s old. He could still play the character without having rubber glued to his face.

Never understood why in a scifi show of all things they didnt just write around this the second it became a problem and make him human again/the new computer/whatever. God knows any of the Dave series coulda made space for a Kryten gets a Heart episode.

Maybe if the Cook’d and Bomb’d community matures that bit more, people there might even get brave enough to confess they like Gavin & Stacey.

Suggesting the world is split between petty edgelords and Gavin and Stacey enjoyers is a truly cursed thought to just throw out there into the world.

Conference, we need a third way.

There is no salvaging Krytie TV *or* the original concept.

Doug being locked in a room with a bunch of women that hold very strong opinions on it and not being allowed out until they’ve all been aired. Ideally cover Back in the Red and Timewave while they’re at it.

Not gonna be classic Dwarf but it’d probably land higher on the tierlist than Krytie TV.

Jesus, so easy to forget they’re cruising towards 70.

Its a shame Doug’s still trying to push dramatic meta stuff, them going full circle and having a final season of pottering around and bickering on Red Dwarf but this time as pensioners could be such a beautiful way to end the show.

Red Dwarf: the Last of the Summer Wine years. Chloe returns in the Nora Batty role, Danny sliding down Blue Midget’s leg in a bathtub, Norm and Hattie having an illicit affair in the VR machine. Ahh man, I’d watch the shit out of that.

Fell through is generous in a sane country the people running Unbound would have been locked up for the bullshit they pulled.

Good guy Bobby for making it right, his redemption arc from the depths of glazing Krytie TV continues apace.

Listening to the last few Hattie episodes when she seems to really just want someone to tell her they missed her is heartbreaking.

Really loved the mellow Rimmer from the Dallas episode in Series 7, my heart would have liked to see the character slip into a less bitter middle age. If instead of the diabolical crimes of 8 and 9 we got a proper Corrie/RD mashup where Rimmer and Norris go off on odd couple adventures that finish with a lovely picnic we might all have ended up better people.
