The “I’ve seen this pattern before” pattern is the pattern they used when they promoted Back to Earth. No idea if they used that same red pattern in other marketing, but it was very prominently used for BtE.

I think it’s just promotion for the Channel in general and Red Dwarf’s just a part of it.

Certainly very interesting. Dave do promotional stuff quite well, don’t they? The online Back to Earth stuff was good, I recall.

As for the the videos, NoFro, the salient points of each are on the post-its surrounding the ‘screens’.

I’ll certainly keep an eye out for any further activity, though. I expect actual Red Dwarf promotion will start late August/early September. How long before BtE did the ‘Lister’s Coming Home’ campaign start?

As I remember it, the gap between Bobbyllew mentioning there would be ‘new Dwarf’ and BTE airing was about 7 months in total.

The gap between RDX being confirmed at DJXV and airdates will be 3 years. Oh boy…

To answer your question though I think the ‘Lister’s coming home’ promotional stuff (I loved the trailer of Rimmer on the escalator) was about 1 month before BTE aired.

I’ve got off-air recordings of all the BtE teasers and trailers. I know they’re all on the BtE DVD as well, but nothing quite beats catching the end of Top Gear before Kryten pops up onscreen. :)

I remember the shock/general weirdness of seeing The Cat with a beard. I imagine it was like the first time anyone saw those pictures of a bearded Colin Baker in those Doctor Who publicity shots with Bonnie Langford.

looks like dave are putting together another great publicity run in to the new series but having seen 1 episode being filmed not sure they are doing justice to how good the series is.

I’ve been looking at Doomsdave regularly the last couple of months. Nothing in the RD section. Thought, after seeing the RD clip inserted into the Doomsdave TV ad last night, that now the series has started, something might have appeared by now, but just checked, and…no. Nothing yet. Give us a shout if anyone spots anything.
