Letting it start go on as “series 1” at this point makes sense only if the title is changed from “Doctor Who” to something else.

Otherwise there will be two “Doctor Who Series 1” on amazon, and people will end up buying the worng one for their grandchildren on christmas, and everyone will be pissed off.

One will be Series 1, the other will be Series One.

One will be six of one, the other will be half a dozen.

Maybe ‘Steven Moffat’s Proper Doctor Who Funshow – Series 1’.

    > Adorable.

That was a Big Brother Marcus reference. If I called my own mother a ‘mingebag’ it would probably be that last thing I ever said.

Anyone getting ‘The Twin Dilemma’ which is released monday? Bloody awful episode, one of the worst, down there with ‘Time and the Rani’. Still a Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant commetary always proved to delight. The comic strip bonus feature and the archive material look really good as well as a shiney new restoration along with the info subtitles which will prove a good distraction to the 90% of the story which is utter crap.

Wooh, I don’t do that much, have a go at a Colin Baker story!

I thought about it some more and the series one / series 1 thing still bothers me.

There are a number of loose ends from RTD’s Who (the Doctor’s “daughter”, Master’s ring, River Song, etc.), one of which Moffat already said he was going to tie up or continue (River Song, yes?) so it isn’t going to be a new show. I’m still hoping for all other loose ends to be tied up as well, eventually. Remember, the continuity bits throughout the first Who episodes were what made me a fan in the first place.

In short – the more I think about it, the less I get it.

    >There are a number of loose ends from RTD?s Who (the Doctor?s ?daughter?, Master?s ring, River Song, etc.)

I don’t really think Jenny is a loose end, it was actually changed at last minute when Moffat said they shouldn’t kill her, I doubt it is because he wants to use her (though would like to be proved wrong) more because it would be a bit evil to give the Doctor a daughter and then kill her in 45 minutes. The regeneration end was much more satisfying anyway (though that isn’t a popular opinion).
With the Master’s ring well I wouldn’t consider that a loose end, the Master dies loads of times and then returns with no explanation, I think the ring is just a way to give any future scipts an easy way to bring him back, I mean just look at ‘Planet of Fire’, the Master dies at the end, then in ‘Mark of the Rani’ he is happily alive dressed as a scarecrow for no reason, then at the end of ‘Mark of the Rani’ he is stuck in the Rani’s TARDIS with a growing dinosaur, next story he returns with no explanation, then in ‘Survival’ he is stuck on the Cheetah planet after the Doctor is transported from it, then in ‘The TV Movie’ he is alive with no reason.

The only real loose ends I can think of are stuff like the American president being killed by an alien infront of the entire world, but that got brushed under the carpet it seems.

This change into Series One doesn’t instantly mean it is a new show, I mean when the 2005 series started we instantly knew it was the same show as it was in 1989 or 1996 with sly hints and returning aliens, it just means it is the same show with some changes. I don’t see a reason to get aggravated over numbers, what they call it officially is what I will call it.

The Doctor has a daughter out there. That’s too juicy a loose end for Moffat not to want to deal with. Georgia Moffat is too juicy a loose end, at any rate. It would be very interesting to see how Georgia acted with Matt Smith, who looks almost the same age as her and yet is playing her dad. Tennant was just old enough for it to work last time. I wonder if she calls him ‘Daddy’ in real life. Or, perhaps more disturbingly, ‘Doctor’. Her dad WAS the 5th Doctor after all.

He has a grand daughter out there too. They haven’t felt the need to bring that up since 1964!

It was a bit, wasn’t it? Not just an alien, the British PM no less!

    >He has a grand daughter out there too. They haven?t felt the need to bring that up since 1964!

She’s in The Five Doctors (1983) & Dimensions In Time (1993), and the Doctor being a grandfather is alluded to in The Empty Child (2005).

Plus there’s a huge difference between the various creative teams. There is no “they” when it comes to this stuff. Not sure a ‘bring him back and don’t bother to explain’ policy will hold for New Who era content.

Ahh, I forgot about ‘The Five Doctors’, I guess it was because she was still with the first Doctor, I didn’t mention ‘Dimensions in Time’ because it is a load of rubbish which is thankfully non-canon, Ace arrives to see the Sixth Doctor, “You’re not the Doctor”, “Yes I am”, *shrug*.

She’s not his daughter. She’s his (female) clone. Why would she call him “Daddy”?? Just because the episode was given a catchy title begging for attention? MEH.

In any case, she’s a renegade (!) Gallifreyan (!!) with an attitude (!). As rubbish as the episode was – how could this NOT be addressed?

Spinoff show. Moffat’s Torchwood. Just you watch.

Incidentally, does anyone object if I thread-split again?
