October 22, 2009 at 11:09 am #105146 siParticipant Oh. That’s not so bad, not as much of a radical change as I was expecting. Sort of half old, half new, from the looks of things. October 22, 2009 at 2:21 pm #105151 littlesmeggerParticipant It’s a bit ‘Tennant meets McGann’ by looks of it… the coral walls with the period stairs, ceiling etc. Shall have to see what the actual controls look like though. They get the most airtime, so they’ll be the most detailed. October 22, 2009 at 2:25 pm #105152 JamesTCParticipant According to some reports a reptile alien has been seen on set, some say it is a Silurian, some say it isn’t, I bet it is the Rani, they are all the Rani in the end. October 22, 2009 at 5:17 pm #105157 AlexParticipant According to some reports a reptile alien has been seen on set, some say it is a Silurian, some say it isn?t. Looks like something new to me: http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt32/doctorwhonews/filming/october2009/stgwynnoschurch-filming-091021-sf-6.jpg October 22, 2009 at 7:18 pm #105162 JamesTCParticipant I still say it is the Rani, in disguise. October 22, 2009 at 7:44 pm #105163 DaveParticipant It’s a Kraal October 23, 2009 at 1:59 am #105171 Ben PaddonParticipant Double-A, actually! October 23, 2009 at 3:03 am #105172 Plastic PercyParticipant Interestingly, the photo of the new TARDIS interior is a closeup of an image that includes the TARDIS Police Box shell itself. What’s interesting specifically is that the prop they used for that scene is the old one from the Eccleston/Tennant Era and not the new prop seen in the first location images featuring the 11th Doctor and Amy. This to me implies that either the 10th Doctor recieves a new Control Room set as a Christmas prezzie, or the 11th Doctor alters the interior before altering the outer shell of the machine itself. October 23, 2009 at 6:13 am #105173 Tarka DalParticipant I didn’t think the Doctor could change the outer appearance, I thought it was fused shut? Yes I know that the appearance does change from Doctor to Doctor, but I thought that was just down to production design and continuity. October 23, 2009 at 2:49 pm #105182 Plastic PercyParticipant I assume that too Karl, but with all the rumours flying around about the TARDIS being destroyed and rebuilt/regrown by the Doctor does make me think we’ll get an excuse for the change in the TARDIS prop. I’m not bothered one way or another though. October 23, 2009 at 8:04 pm #105190 littlesmeggerParticipant Yeah there’s talk that in the first episodes story there’s a point where 10 years pass, where in that point a new TARDIS is grown…and voila, he grows a St John’s Ambulance sticker and some white windows! October 23, 2009 at 8:43 pm #105193 JamesTCParticipant Yeh, it started in about 1996 (I think, it said something about a new Nintendo console on a board in the background) and then it was present day. October 24, 2009 at 12:49 pm #105215 Plastic PercyParticipant I think it’d be fun if the Doctor bumped into Amy for the first time in a queue at B&Q, picking up some MDF and blue paint to rebuild the TARDIS. I wonder if he’d try and take advantage of the over 60’s discount. October 24, 2009 at 4:13 pm #105238 Tarka DalParticipant > with all the rumours flying around about the TARDIS being destroyed and rebuilt/regrown by the Doctor does make me think we?ll get an excuse for the change in the TARDIS prop Can people post these types of rumours in this thread plz! I had no idea. October 24, 2009 at 7:45 pm #105253 JamesTCParticipant http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/Scootyboy/24th%20October%20-%20Day%204%20at%20St%20Gwynnos/DSCF0973.jpg Something for the dads comes to mind. October 25, 2009 at 10:39 am #105282 Tarka DalParticipant *quivers* October 29, 2009 at 1:41 am #105408 JonsmadParticipant So The Doctor is back on TV today (29th/30th), with Sarah Jane and K9 (who for anyone who’s not watching kids TV is now back in the attic after the black hole that was keeping him mostly away was taken by an Alien ship for power last week, freeing him up to return home, much to the dismay of the computer that lives in the wall it would seem.) October 29, 2009 at 7:18 pm #105424 ChrisMParticipant Today, eh? I’ll have to grab it on I-player. I’ve caught up on the rest of this series on the web. Quite enjoyable! Especially the last 2 parter. Interesting that the ship’s energy problems were resolved by something I thought a load of rubbish when it appeared in the first series. And it worked. I’m not really a fan of K-9 though. Still… we’ll see. October 29, 2009 at 11:54 pm #105428 The PerformingMonkeyParticipant > `http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s110/Scootyboy/24th%20October%20-%20D… Oh, it’s all happening… So, er, what does everyone think about the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre? October 30, 2009 at 12:12 pm #105439 AlexParticipant I’ll be honest, I’m dead against it. People forget that traders need access to DIIIIIII-XONS! October 31, 2009 at 12:58 am #105456 JonsmadParticipant The next special is airing on Sunday the 15th of November. October 31, 2009 at 1:07 am #105457 JamesTCParticipant According to an insider the Ice Warriors appear in it but half way through turn into the Rani who then is unmasked as a puppet of the Cybermen whose creation were manipulated by the Ood to lead to the events in the story happening, plus the Ood were created by the Rani and the Rani is the Doctors mother on his human side and the Master is his father. Sounds good. But really I like the hints up to now that the Doctor is turning a bit different, almost rogue going by the hints, maybe he will finally be the no second chances Doctor! October 31, 2009 at 9:34 pm #105466 The PerformingMonkeyParticipant After seeing Tennant’s appearance in SJA I think it’s safe to say even I will be shedding a tear when he goes (though obviously not as many as I was doing over Sarah Jane during the latter parts of this episode. ‘Mr. Smith, I need you…’ good one, Mr. Roberts) October 31, 2009 at 11:14 pm #105468 Ben PaddonParticipant Gareth Roberts is definitely one of my favourites stories this year. Certainly it’s better than Planet of the Dead. October 31, 2009 at 11:23 pm #105469 JamesTCParticipant He is writing a two-parter in Series One according to his CV. November 1, 2009 at 3:07 am #105471 The PerformingMonkeyParticipant > Series One *openly weeps* November 1, 2009 at 11:20 am #105473 JamesTCParticipant Moffat has stated they called it Series One because Series 5 sounds like an ageing brand (which is odd considering the fact that it is nearly 50 years old). You can call it what you like, Season 31, Series 5, but I will call it what it is actually called, now I have to go and watch ‘The Daleks’ and ‘The Edge of Destruction’ and ‘Rivers Run’. November 1, 2009 at 12:07 pm #105474 JonsmadParticipant I will call it Moffat Who until he goes. November 1, 2009 at 7:01 pm #105478 Seb PatrickKeymaster >He is writing a two-parter in Series One according to his CV. It’s not a given that it’s a two parter, though, it just says “two episodes”. Bear in mind they seem to be stockpiling scripts for two series, because there are clearly more writers known (if not announced) to be down for Moffat’s era than would actually fit in. I know of at least a couple of others who are definitely writing, but no-one seems to have a handle on exactly what’s being used when. Also, our website isn’t always correct ;-) November 1, 2009 at 8:56 pm #105479 JamesTCParticipant Yeh, it isn’t confirmed as a two-parter. I really do hope they are stockpiling scripts for Series Two, I heard Rob Shearman has written a script and he is such a good writer, if it wern’t to appear in Series One then it would in Series Two. Come on Rob write another classic, you have already done it four times (‘Jubilee’, ‘The Holy Terror’, ‘The Chimes of Midnight’ and ‘Dalek’). November 1, 2009 at 8:58 pm #105480 JamesTCParticipant Oh and it was confirmed by the Moff that he is writing 6 episodes in the new series, the same amount as he written for the previous 4 series, wonder if they can be of the same quality as the previous 6 being that they arn’t spread out. He is also currently writing episode 13. November 2, 2009 at 2:42 am #105484 Tarka DalParticipant He managed 6 rather awesome ones for Jekyll. November 2, 2009 at 9:26 am #105488 DaveParticipant >but I will call it what it is actually called Twat November 2, 2009 at 12:26 pm #105490 JamesTCParticipant Doctor Who: Twat Starring Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. Written by Stephen Moffat. November 2, 2009 at 7:57 pm #105497 AndrewParticipant So Moffat’s been on, speaking all kinds of sense: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s7/doctorwho/tubetalk/a184561/steven-moffat-talks-doctor-who-future.html Personal favourites include: “You don?t write the show for box set geeks because these are the sorts of people who will buy them whatever. It is more of a challenge writing for the casual viewer who may not be watching the show every week but who must still understand what is going on.” (Precis rather than direct quote.) “Nobody does themes. It?s a lie. Who have your heard say ‘I?ve thought of a good theme?’ They happen accidently. You repeat yourself once too often and so it becomes a theme.” November 4, 2009 at 9:21 am #105563 PetetranterssisterParticipant When is the Dr who special on? i know its in november but i cant remember the date! November 4, 2009 at 9:23 am #105565 Ben PaddonParticipant November 15th in the UK, December 19th in the US. November 4, 2009 at 9:27 am #105567 PetetranterssisterParticipant Oooh on a sunday eh, deffo need to get a sunday roast on and few glasses of wine and make a real occasion of it i LOVE Dr Who and it seems like i have been waiting for this special for agggeesss! November 4, 2009 at 9:28 am #105569 Ben PaddonParticipant Yeah, it’s been a bit of a long gap. From what I hear though, it’s worth the wait. November 4, 2009 at 9:31 am #105570 PetetranterssisterParticipant *Excited* i need to make the most of david tenant whilst hes still here!! It will be a bit strange without any of the usual side kicks in it though. Now i just need a new series of torchwood to come about and im all set for a while:D November 4, 2009 at 7:22 pm #105602 AlexParticipant New trailer for WoM. Looks good: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/episodes/?episode=S0_07&character=&action=videostream&playlist=/doctorwho/playlists/s0_07/video/s0_07_trl_06.xml&video=1&date=&summary=&info=&info2=&info3=&tag_file_id=s0_07_trl_06 November 4, 2009 at 10:52 pm #105621 redhead85Participant boohoo! I’ll be on holiday when it airs – post on here and let me know what it’s like!! November 4, 2009 at 11:36 pm #105626 JamesTCParticipant It was pretty good. Shame that it had to end with that giant duck knocking 4 times asking for oasis. November 5, 2009 at 12:57 am #105631 Ben PaddonParticipant Is the trailer on YouTube yet? I looked earlier and I couldn’t find it. November 5, 2009 at 8:02 am #105635 JamesTCParticipant Youtube is for slow people – http://blogtorwho.blogspot.com/ November 5, 2009 at 8:54 pm #105672 ChrisMParticipant I didn’t know about the Dreamland animation. Looks interesting. November 5, 2009 at 9:29 pm #105679 JamesTCParticipant From what I have seen from the ‘Dreamland’ animation it looks good and bad, the voice work is top notch (David Tennant and Voice work = epic win) but the animation looks over ambitious and just not very good, still the animation isn’t what will make the story, it is the acting and writing that will and we shall see what that is like, up to now I think it looks promising. November 9, 2009 at 8:52 pm #105865 Julian HazeldineParticipant The thing that’s puzzling me about Dreamland is the slot they’ve decided to put it out in. It’s understandable that they want to maintain momentum for the show during the final month and a half of the RTD era, but putting it out between Waters and the finale seems strange, given that those two stories are supposed to be a three-parter. Given the references in the first story of the present SJAs, it might have made more sense if it had immediately followed ‘The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith’. November 9, 2009 at 9:40 pm #105867 Jonathan CappsKeymaster Apparently the actual story of Dreamland is set between Waters and Time, but the more I think about it the more that seems like bobbins.
