February 15, 2024 at 12:20 pm #292705 Jonathan CappsKeymaster a) Was the pilot really written exactly four years before the first broadcast? b) Wasn’t it 1983? I just assumed that it would be a minor key arrangement played over a scene of someone euthanizing their grandmother. July 22, 2025 at 3:37 pm #309072 RushyParticipant I wish we’d get an update on the show. I know, I know, duh, don’t we all, but honestly I’d just like to know if it’s dead in the water, or what kind of negotiations are currently happening. Is Doug still fishing for funds? Or has he given up on the CGI Lister script and working on something else? I don’t think it’s very pragmatic to keep pushing for it if it’s too expensive to make. You weren’t there during the Movie years, right? I feel like we’ve heard too much about it already and they should just stick with “soon” until anything actually gets going. But I don’t follow any other productions closely anyway, normally just search “taskmaster season x” or “severance season x” a few times a year until one time it exists and I can watch it. July 22, 2025 at 5:01 pm #309076 RushyParticipant You weren’t there during the Movie years, right? No, no. I started watching when the Promised Land had already aired. I haven’t had the experience of getting a ‘brand-new’ Red Dwarf and I would really really like to enjoy that at least once. The cast are getting on a bit, especially Norman. And we only just got him back! I’d love to see at least one story where he’s in it all the way through, and utilised properly too. July 23, 2025 at 12:24 pm #309097 MANI506Participant You’re joking? Phil Pope? Oh my god. I’ve been watching some Charlie Brooker recently. Top tier piss taker. July 23, 2025 at 3:44 pm #309100 Dax101Participant I wish we’d get an update on the show. After Series 8 there was a 10 year gap of nothing while Doug tried to get a movie off the ground. We were not getting updates on what was happening. We were just waiting. And then Back to earth came out, we didn’t know is that was the end of it. then it took another 3 years to get Series 10. And then another 4 years to get Series 11 and 12. And another 3 for TPL. In that time we didn’t get updates. We were just waiting for official word. Occasionally the cast would speak up and say they were making more that year or whatever, but it never really meant a lot when it came to it actually happening. And then of course you get other stuff like Doug was trying to get a stage show off the ground for a while. He was talking about that for a period and it just phased out and never happened. Really its just the waiting game. There is just stuff we ain’t privy to.
