February 29, 2008 at 1:46 pm #121020 AnonymousGuest Fundie quotes are absolutely amazing. The one about all atheists actually being Muslims had me in stitches. February 29, 2008 at 2:55 pm #121023 AnonymousGuest Who would’ve thought that to turn Garfield into a touching, hilarious and surreal exploration of loneliness and existentialism, all you’d have to do is remove his thought bubbles? See here: http://www.truthandbeautybombs.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4997&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 February 29, 2008 at 7:36 pm #121028 pfmParticipant This is interesting in both a funny and perhaps disturbing way (actually there’s no ‘perhaps’ about it!). I can’t believe anyone would actually post this but…there you go, there are people out there who…would. Anyway enjoy! (or not… btw I did not actively seek this out and no, it’s not me…if it was it would be over a lot more quickly…) – http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yOi2C1C2AnU Apologies in advance. February 29, 2008 at 7:48 pm #121029 PhilParticipant While I disagree with one of the posters, Jimbotfu, about Garfield being one of the worst comics in history, the bulk of that thread is spot on. It’s amazing how much you can say without having to say it, and as a writer myself it’s a fascinating little experiment of trying to balance saying too much and not saying enough. Thanks for the link! February 29, 2008 at 9:34 pm #121033 AndrewParticipant This has educational value, I’m almost certain: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fdontlinkthis.net%2F&v=50YhnMM_oXo (Have a look at some of the other vids by the same poster, though. OK, I have a question. YouTube won’t allow bare breasts, but *will* allow spurting cum, as long as you don’t show where it spurts from? That is fucked up. March 2, 2008 at 3:21 am #121067 pfmParticipant > YouTube won?t allow bare breasts, but *will* allow spurting cum, as long as you don?t show where it spurts from? It is pretty insane. They probably explain it away by saying that technically the guy could just have a tube of handcream in his hand or something and he’s faking it. (sadly I don’t think this is the case in this video…) A bare breast onscreen can’t be faked, though there are plenty of tits on youtube. March 2, 2008 at 9:10 am #121069 Ben PaddonParticipant It’s probably not a good idea to use this thread to plug my own webcomic, but I will use it to plug a friend’s comic. It’s called Good Ship Chronicles, and it’s probably best described as “The Office meets Star Trek” – it’s about a reality TV show being filmed aboard a starship where the real Nobodies of the StarCorp fleet end up. It’s The Last Dead End In Space. It’s probably the sort of ship Rimmer would’ve likely wound up on. March 2, 2008 at 7:52 pm #121078 clemParticipant http://tailsteak.com/arbuckle/index.php?date=060107 “In 1978, Jim Davis began a newspaper comic strip called “Garfield”. For almost thirty years, this strip has endured, primarily because its inoffensive, storyless humour is immediately accessible. It is, if not quite the Lowest Common Denominator of the comic world, at least as close to it as one can get without being obviously mediocre. The comic changes dramatically when one removes the thought bubbles. “Garfield” changes from being a comic about a sassy, corpulent feline, and becomes a compelling picture of a lonely, pathetic, delusional man who talks to his pets. Consider that Jon, according to Garfield canon, cannot hear his cat’s thoughts. This is the world as he sees it. This is his story.” March 4, 2008 at 1:26 am #121105 peas_and_cornParticipant The ‘Jon doesn’t hear Garfield’s thoughts’ aspect gets broken all the time- there are many strips where it’s quite clear Jon is reacting to Garfield’s words. March 4, 2008 at 2:30 pm #121118 AnonymousGuest Not funny, but has anyone else seen the video of the US soldiers throwing a puppy of the cliff? Just mind-meltingly twisted and stupid of them. If there’s anything middle america hates more than not injuring Iraqis it’s injuring animals. US press seems to not be covering the story much. Wonder why? March 5, 2008 at 8:28 am #121153 Arlene Rimmer BSc SScParticipant I remember hearing about that story on my local news–and according to them, there’s debate as to whether or not the footage is a fake. March 5, 2008 at 4:34 pm #121200 PhilParticipant >US press seems to not be covering the story much. Front page of CNN.com yesterday…you can’t get much higher exposure than that in the States. March 5, 2008 at 5:51 pm #121204 Ben PaddonParticipant It’s not News, it’s CNN. March 5, 2008 at 9:39 pm #121214 PhilParticipant I’m not meaning to imply that CNN is the Most Reliable of All News Outlets, but it certainly is the most visible and probably the most frequently accessed. So really if it’s front-page CNN there’s no higher you can really go. March 6, 2008 at 10:43 am #121242 AnonymousGuest Oh my God, this is fucking brilliant. But Ruddy Hell was excerable, YES. (That wasn’t meant to be in capitals, but it seems appropriate.) I still think the best thing he’s done is Smashie and Nicey: End of an Era.
