I’m tempted to shout “WOOHOO!” But I won’t. November 21, 2008 at 6:11 pm #87035 PhilParticipant I wonder if anyone who reads this site will end up shooting me a private message with a link so that I can watch it, too. Unsolicited, of course. I would never dream of asking such a thing. November 21, 2008 at 6:34 pm #87036 Ben PaddonParticipant Not that I’d advocate using such nefarious means, but I’ve heard from friends that uTorrent is a pretty reliable program for such things. Someone I know (not me) used it to nab the entire fourth season of Doctor Who and would be watching the episode usually only a few hours after it had finished airing in the UK. Not me, though. I’m a good little boy. November 21, 2008 at 11:05 pm #87037 Squeaky GibsonParticipant damn forgot this was on, rushes to C4+1 November 21, 2008 at 11:38 pm #87038 ChrisMParticipant I watched it on Ch4+1 in the end too. That way I got to see Qi too. Great episode. When the boss got out the gun, I wondered if they were going to turn the ‘boss dying at start of series’ into a running gag. November 22, 2008 at 7:20 am #87041 John HoareParticipant Loads and loads of great moments, but I’m not sure it especially holded together that well. Full review coming by Monday. November 22, 2008 at 8:56 am #87042 Pete Part ThreeParticipant Matt Berry is God. November 22, 2008 at 9:20 am #87044 Steve HarrisParticipant I have to admit, I watched it for the very first time last night.. Will certainly watch it again. November 22, 2008 at 3:53 pm #87045 TheLeenParticipant That was rather good. Man, I love this show. Can’t wait for the DVD release. Or next weekend’s episode. November 22, 2008 at 4:19 pm #87050 ChrisMParticipant theLeen: Thanks I was tired. I needed that. [/end crap joke] >Loads and loads of great moments, but I?m not sure it especially held together that well. Was it the multiple threads? It did feel a bit disjointed to start with I guess. However, I think the fact they tied the four threads together (Jen/Decorator, Moss/bullying, Twat boss/gun, Irish bloke/money) at the end was a good pay-off. It’s not the kind of thing I’d like to see every episode but every now and again it’s ok I think. November 22, 2008 at 7:14 pm #87052 PhilParticipant It’s on youtube, for anyone who hasn’t seen it. I liked it…definitely a few big laughs, but also some groaners. No serious complaints. I doubt it’ll blow anyone’s mind but that’s okay; not every episode has to. It was funny enough to justify itself and that’s all that really matters in the end. November 22, 2008 at 9:27 pm #87054 pfmParticipant I thought it was a good solid episode of The IT Crowd but nothing spectacular. Not that every episode needs to be. Matt Berry is better as Douglas now but I still don’t like him that much (I’m probably alone with that opinion). I hope he’s not in every episode as much as he was in this. OK it was funny when he was shooting the gun in his mouth to ‘test’ it. Though I didn’t think it worked when he shot himself in the leg. Thankfully the stuff with the main three was great. The whole episode was saved with Moss running at the bullies with the gun (btw I’ve already phoned Ofcom about that AND the Douglas gun scene) and his line to Roy about it being ‘too real’ is another classic! Great nod to series 1 at the end too with Jen screaming at Mr Yamamoto. What I found funnier was how hysterical my g/f got over the Jen-on-her-knees scene. I thought I was gonna have to phone for an ambulance (or Ofcom)! I’m so glad there’s gonna be a fourth series because I could watch episode after episode. November 23, 2008 at 1:01 am #87057 ChrisMParticipant >I?m so glad there?s gonna be a fourth series because I could watch episode after episode. That’s news to me. Good news, mind! November 25, 2008 at 9:39 am #87091 John HoareParticipant My review, there. November 28, 2008 at 11:38 pm #87183 ChrisMParticipant Episode 2. Brilliant! I liked episode 1, but it was so much better when they stick to two plots. The ‘Jen with boyfriend’ thing felt a bit old, but the magician thing made me smile. The rest though…brilliant. I can easily empathise over the football thing too. That’s pretty much how I am. November 29, 2008 at 1:10 pm #87187 TheLeenParticipant Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa… excellent stuff… how delicious and fun. November 29, 2008 at 7:02 pm #87191 hummingbirdParticipant Last nights ep could quite possibly be one of my all time favourites. November 29, 2008 at 7:09 pm #87192 AndrewParticipant Reviewyness: http://noisetosignal.org/2008/11/the-it-crowd-are-we-not-men December 1, 2008 at 10:39 am #87194 TheLeenParticipant Some days… http://whythatsdelightful.wordpress.com/2008/12/01/sneak-preview-of-the-next-episode/ How awesome is that?! Oh, I can’t wait. December 6, 2008 at 7:16 pm #87294 Pete Part ThreeParticipant A ropey episode this week, I thought. A bunch of silly ideas but no real plot. December 6, 2008 at 8:09 pm #87295 siParticipant Agreed. I’m sure I’ve seen the ‘old woman stole my jacket’ isea somewhere else, as unlikely as that sounds. However, I loved Moss’s ‘Happy Place’ being signalled by the Windows startup tone. And, of course, you can’t beat a good blow job gag for a visual woofer. Also, Matt Berry’s name was added to the opening titles this series, and he wasn’t even in it last week. He was back in it last night, and – though I may be mistaken – his name was omitted completely! Wassalltharrabout? December 6, 2008 at 8:14 pm #87296 hummingbirdParticipant > I loved Moss?s ?Happy Place? being signalled by the Windows startup tone the best moment in a meh ep December 6, 2008 at 8:33 pm #87297 ChrisMParticipant It wasn’t as good as episode 2 certainly. It was funny though, but it didn’t flow as well somehow (I’m not entirely sure why.) Interesting to see them deal with the finale of last series though, something they’ve ignored in the past. (Although it’s the kind of episode you’d think would be at the start. I guess it could be argued that the law-suit was going on behind the scenes though.) I liked the sunglasses gag, cos that’s what women in such law-suits wear. “Is she asleep?” December 6, 2008 at 9:18 pm #87298 PhilParticipant >> I loved Moss?s ?Happy Place? being signalled by the Windows startup tone I think that’s the sound of his brain rebooting… Overall it’s the weakest of the three, in my opinion. Good laughs (Moss throwing the coffee is a definite top 10 ever moment) but also a lot of lame stuff (Douglas’ electric boner pants! Ho!). December 6, 2008 at 9:37 pm #87299 AndrewParticipant > I think that?s the sound of his brain rebooting? Yeah, that’s how I read it. I thought it was stumbling at the start and quickly got it together, ending up significantly better than episode one but not up to episode two. December 7, 2008 at 3:11 am #87300 pfmParticipant The Windows startup had me on the floor. I was laughing anyway and then that sent me over the edge. Graham Linehan – the man who makes it all right to laugh hysterically at a sitcom in 2008. OK it wasn’t the best episode on the whole. Douglas being electrocuted was a bit naff and for some reason I didn’t particularly like the idea of Jen being so ready to go for an interview somewhere else. That plot was very half-arsed anyway, incredibly hinging on the ‘what does IT stand for?’ question (what DOES it stand for, anyway?? Lol only joking…no seriously, what does IT stand for??? In…intravenous Tracheotomy…?? Illuminati Takeover??? Inbred Twat?) You can tell that Graham probably came up with the idea of Moss being concussed after thinking ‘well why can’t she just ring Moss and ask him what IT stands for?’ The coffee/running into the door thing was fucking funny though so the sheer insanity of it was well worth it. Douglas’s ‘fuck off!’ was also great because it was so unexpected. Even though I whined before about it I’m glad it wasn’t bleeped here. December 7, 2008 at 11:49 am #87301 siParticipant >> I loved Moss?s ?Happy Place? being signalled by the Windows startup tone I think that?s the sound of his brain rebooting? Yeah, rewatched this last night, realised I’d got it wrong, and my only thought was ‘the folks on the G&T forums will be mocking me…’ And Matt Berry’s name WAS missing. Right about that. December 7, 2008 at 3:07 pm #87302 PhilParticipant >And Matt Berry?s name WAS missing. Right about that. That’s interesting. I wonder if Graham gave the editors a note like “use the old credits for ep 2” since Berry wasn’t in that one, and they applied the change to the wrong episode. Or maybe the episodes got shuffled around before broadcast and renumbered… Whatever it was, good eye. I have to admit I don’t pay much attention to the opening credits and miss quirks like this when they happen. December 7, 2008 at 5:41 pm #87303 TheLeenParticipant Am I the only one loved Jen’s “Ich bin ein Nerd”? It’s an epic moment… And “previously on The IT Crowd” was ok, but now they have to address the series 1 finale in a similar way or I’ll be annoyed. I think all the orphaned cliffhangers should’ve been left for one giant christmas special anyway. Something really weird that ties them all together, and maybe mock-up interviews or something. December 7, 2008 at 9:09 pm #87305 hummingbirdParticipant Just watched it again, and it definitely improves on a second viewing. December 7, 2008 at 10:18 pm #87310 Tanya JonesParticipant >Am I the only one loved Jen?s ?Ich bin ein Nerd?? It?s an epic moment? Yes, I thought it was a great moment; when Jen realises what the audience have known all along. I thought this was actually the third series getting back on form, after a couple of disappointing episodes. December 7, 2008 at 10:45 pm #87311 Squeaky GibsonParticipant Dam missed it this week, set timer wrong. this weeeks one sounds good though, as its mean’t to exlain the absence of everyone’s favourite Goth. December 8, 2008 at 10:18 am #87321 TheLeenParticipant No NTS review? December 9, 2008 at 10:59 am #87354 John HoareParticipant Coming late today/early tomorrow, from me. Sorry for the delay – job interview got in the way… December 9, 2008 at 11:10 am #87355 TheLeenParticipant Cool :) December 9, 2008 at 12:51 pm #87359 Danny StephensonKeymaster John, how dare you try and get a job? You must mooch off of the system and get your articles in on time. get your priorities sorted :) December 9, 2008 at 5:54 pm #87364 hummingbirdParticipant > its mean?t to explain the absence of everyone?s favourite Goth I hope so. He has been sorely missed. December 9, 2008 at 8:02 pm #87366 ChrisMParticipant > its mean?t to explain the absence of everyone?s favourite Goth I hope so. He has been sorely missed. He is a great character, but he only appeared in a few episodes! (A bit more series 2 I think.) December 10, 2008 at 12:44 am #87368 DaveParticipant >Sorry for the delay – job interview got in the way? Good luck December 10, 2008 at 12:46 am #87369 pfmParticipant I reckon it’s good that he’s not been in this series. OK the odd gag with him would be OK (I love quickies like him on the ceiling like a bat) but he shouldn’t be anything more than a cameo character, otherwise it messes up the dynamic December 10, 2008 at 12:59 am #87371 MnoooahParticipant … is there some way of catching up on this without watching all 4 series? December 10, 2008 at 1:28 am #87375 ChrisMParticipant >? is there some way of catching up on this without watching all 4 series? Just watch the previous two? ;) December 10, 2008 at 1:43 am #87378 PhilParticipant It’s worth watching the first two series, Scoots. First of all, there are only 12 episodes, and secondly, it’s one of the best sitcoms to come along in many years in terms of laugh-frequency. The first series took a few viewings to really hit me, but the second series I fell in love with immediately. (Recently I’ve reevaluated both and I actually think the first is the strongest.) So…yeah. Dig up an episode guide somewhere and then visit youtube, where all of them (I think) are still freely available. December 10, 2008 at 11:30 am #87390 AndrewParticipant > he shouldn?t be anything more than a cameo character, otherwise it messes up the dynamic The Dinner Party says you are WRONG. December 10, 2008 at 11:38 am #87391 Danny StephensonKeymaster ? is there some way of catching up on this If you live in the UK, try 4 OnDemand I downloaded the whole of the first series and watched them back to back. I loved it. I’ll be getting the second series very soon. December 10, 2008 at 6:57 pm #87407 pfmParticipant > The Dinner Party says you are WRONG. Yeah but every gag with him just took one away from the main three. December 10, 2008 at 7:06 pm #87408 ChrisMParticipant >Yeah but every gag with him just took one away from the main three. Not really. He is a very different character, so different humor works with him. I agree that his character works best taken out of the closet (almost literally) on occasion rather than being a main character who appears in every episode though. December 10, 2008 at 10:36 pm #87410 MnoooahParticipant Thanks Danny, but it is a source of daily crushing disappointment that I *don’t* live in the UK, so I guess it’s UtooB. December 11, 2008 at 7:49 am #87414 TheLeenParticipant I can actually recommend the DVDs. They’re relatively cheap, have the most awesome menus I’ve ever seen, and bonus material that akes me squeak with joy. December 11, 2008 at 12:01 pm #87419 PhilParticipant >the most awesome menus I?ve ever seen Yeah…they really are phenomenal, and believe it or not it’s what I’m looking forward to most about the series 3 DVD.
