Lister wearing the shirt makes sense, as Howard Burden’s intention with his III redesign was Lister’s art school background, that he is a bit creative and would make his own stuff or customise outfits with badges and pins. It was nice to see it confirmed on-screen in ‘Cured’.

alternatively, in Samsara he states he went to ‘freshers week’ so maybe it’s been retconned that he was actually there for quite a bit longer.

I kinda like his hair in XI-XII; it’s just always under bad lighting. Watch Timewave, his hair at the beginning under good lighting looks really good.
