Let’s Talk About Holly Hop News Posted by Ian Symes on 6th February 2021, 09:00 By rights, Dimension Jump XXI should have been and gone last May, roughly a year and a half after the previous event. Plan B was to do it this very weekend, but obviously that can’t happen either, so instead the Fan Club have put together the next best thing – Holly Hop, a virtual con you can attend from the comfort of your own living room. And it’s quite the weekend in prospect. Barrie! Llewellyn! Lovett! Hayridge! McDonald! Dexter! Hawks! Clark! Grant! Bye! Jackson! Quizzes and videos and stuff! And of course, a live table read of a brand new Red Dwarf script written by Rob Grant! There will be much to discuss, so do so here, if you like. The two day event starts at 10:30am today (Saturday), and tickets are still available at a ridiculously cheap price for this amount of entertainment. Let’s face it, there are multiple reasons we all need a nice distraction right now, and this should be just the thing.
ROB GRANT WRITES NEW RED DWARF SCRIPT News Posted by Ian Symes on 6th November 2020, 17:41 It's a genuinely strange feeling for me (as indeed it would be for the rest of the remaining G&T team) to report on Fan Club activity from an outsider's perspective. I'm still not used to finding out what they're up to via official channels, rather than half-listening to their remote team meetings taking place at the other end of the sofa, worrying about what duties I'm going to be volunteered for. But today's announcement is quite a big one, as the sensationalist and yet entirely accurate headline demonstrates. Via TOS, the Fan Club have unveiled a two-day online convention called Holly Hop, taking place on the most recently cancelled dates for DJXXI, the 6th & 7th February 2021, to tide us over until the proper convention hopefully happens in September next year, deadly pandemic permitting. So, it's a Hop for a skipped Jump, providing "guest Q&As and behind-the-scenes discussions, as well as a few surprises along the way". Read more →
DwarfCast 87 – Dimension Jump XIX Special DwarfCasts Posted by Ian Symes on 14th April 2017, 16:49 Subscribe to DwarfCasts: RSS • iTunes It has now been a full seven days since the start of The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club's nineteenth convention, but the feeling of elation is yet to wear off, along with the taste of the booze and the total physical and mental exhaustion. To preserve the memories for years to come, as well as to fill in those who were unable to attend, a merry band of extremely tired people congregated in a hotel room on the Sunday night to record the traditional post-DJ DwarfCast. If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit, join our Fan Club News Posted by Ian Symes on 16th February 2014, 15:59 That bunch over at the Red Dwarf fan club, with their swanky ‘official’ title, need your help in a couple of areas. The team recently became one member (and about twenty stone) lighter, and so they are recruiting. So if you’ve ever fancied working directly with the fat hairy one from G&T and the slightly less fat, considerably less hairy one from Gayspacko Poop, now’s your chance. You’ve got just under a month to get your applications in, so do it. If you want to, like. Also, it’s come to that exciting time when the fan club are thinking very seriously about the next Dimension Jump convention. And the first step in this process is to lazily farm out the production of an event logo to their feckless followers. On the plus side, the winning logo designer will receive a free pass to the next event, and the opportunity to own a t-shirt and/or mug with their design on it. Details and submission form are right here. Right, now that I’ve finished whoring out prime real estate on my website for the benefit of my girlfriend’s organisation, maybe I can get a fucking cup of tea.

Better Than Better Than Life News Posted by Ian Symes on 2nd October 2007, 19:20 So, the fan club have ditched the Better Than Life brand, after several years of neglect left the magazine moribund and generally shit. Good. Now, they're after a name for the new, re-branded, better-edited, hopefully-on-time replacement. Chairman Bull has posted a few suggestions on the fan club forums, such as sdrawkcaB, Back To Reality, Smeg, Goit and, ahem, Smegazine. Read more →
