First thing’s first, The Promised Land will be airing on Dave on Thursday 9th April, helping you kick off what will sure to be your perfectly normal Easter weekend that will be just like any other previous Easter, definitely.

Second thing’s second, we’ve got our first full trailer and pardon me for saying that it’s a good ‘un.

Cats in deerstalkers! Essentially the same (but good) joke made in the space of seconds! Great CG! Even greater music! RIMMER COSTUMES.

Anyway, have a chew on that and no doubt someone will be along later armed with nothing but a snipping tool and a head full of dreams.

Stellar Rescue - Smart Breakdown Review featured image

You all know the feeling. You finally decide to act like an adult and get that breakdown cover and then you go months and months without any cause to use it. Well, thankfully Starbug's finally carked it again after eight months of smooth running and so the AA are back to get it back on the SPACE ROAD and give us all another little tranche of Dwarf to enjoy.

Most of Ian's excellent breakdown of Stellar Rescue could be copied and pasted here without changing much, and that's not particularly surprising. This was shot at the same time as the first advert and it follows pretty much the same structure, but it's still really fun to have new(ish) Red Dwarf gags while we wait for the Special later in the Spring.

Just a quick one, this, but we felt it certainly warrants more attention than premature nonsense about Series XIII on account of the fact that it actually exists. Dave, readying itself for it’s change to its position in the digital EPG, has once again given Red Dwarf a prominent place in its marketing by getting some familiar lads involved. It’s always lovely seeing The Model Unit and their work getting some attention, and you can’t get much better than this beautiful Starbug model that’s put in decades of work at this point.

It seems a trailer is being shot here rather than it just being wheeled out for a public appearance, so we’re looking forward to what comes out of of Wednesday’s shoot, especially considering the move is happening very soon. Give us a shout when you see it pop-up, will ya?

EDIT: Mike Tucker’s been in touch to point out that despite our wonderful and thorough journalistic standards, we’v e missed the fact that this trail already went out during Taskmaster on Wednesday. Er, whoops.

Well, here's hoping we've never used that headline before.

Before today the only source of information we've had on the Blu-ray releases of Red Dwarf 1 to VIII is from a very premature Amazon listing and Doug's Tweets on the subject. It is, however, now all official and that, and GNP are going ahead with what seems to be an entire set released on the 1st October as part of their ongoing and extensive 30th anniversary celebrations.

Red Dwarf XII: The Game – A First Look featured image

A few days ago the Red Dwarf XII mobile game was released. This time round the episodic format has been replace with a more open free to play model giving you a handful of endlessly repeatable mini-games that give you points to unlock one of a tonne of playable characters. This weekend I sat down to have a first play of the game, and I have recorded this momentous occasion for your viewing 'pleasure'.

I can’t quite believe it but tomorrow marks the end of Series XII for UKTV Play when it only seems like yesterday that Lister was playing a duet with Hitler. It will also be the first time in almost two years that there will be no new Red Dwarf waiting in the wings for us. This could very well be the end. Don’t fret, though, as for the final time this year we’ve been given a teaser clip for the forthcoming finale Skipper – and it’s a good ‘un.

Red Dwarf XII: Mechocracy Review featured image

Despite drawing on so much from the show's past, Mechocracy feels like a very different sort of episode. It ends up in a ridiculous place in a way that I might not've been so receptive of had this been part of a hypothetical series IX in 2000. But as it happens, this represents the most sheer fun I've had watching the show in a while, and a great example of how to fold in references from the show's past.

I like these little preview clips of the up-coming UKTV Play episode. For one or two glorious minutes I can see what it might be like to watch the episode for the first time without it being a muddy, low resolution, low bitrate mess. Ah, the future.

We’re all pretty familiar with the basic premise of this week’s episode and this clip seems to set that up. There’s some good laughs in there, and this is definitely one of the episodes I’ve been most looking forward to this year. We’ll be kicking off our M-Corp chitter-chatter proper tomorrow, just as soon as Mechocracy has appeared on that fusty, old, linear platform known as ‘television’. Speaking of which my review is due up later today, stretching any goodwill you or my colleagues may still have left towards me to its limits.
