Hey, I’ll have you know the image I posted is 100% historically accurate. The social media intern who was in charge of the official dinnerladies Twitter account in 1998 (which of course was created and verified months in advance of the first broadcast of dinnerladies, and hadn’t got the memo about the lower case initial ‘d’ title styling yet) was simply offering some Red Dwarf-specific advice in response to Doug asking for budgeting help, and was not attempting to make universal proclamations of BBC sitcom budgeting wisdom that could be interpreted as hypocritical if the TV show they represented did not ultimately follow that same advice.
