I’m a honestly a little surprised that Duck Amuck hasn’t come up yet. Also: Chowder is awesome. October 23, 2008 at 6:55 am in reply to: Mother 3 English fan translation. NO ZOMBIES ALLOWED #86275 Kevin GParticipant Jealous Bass is the worst boss fight. Screw you, Jealous Bass. Screw you SO HARD. October 6, 2008 at 8:06 am in reply to: Exploder 8.0 beta. #85839 Kevin GParticipant Thank goodness IE 8 is finally supporting the CSS tables everyone else has been supporting forever. I’ve been waiting ages for those to become relevant. …Though, that still won’t entirely happen until IE 8 is widely adopted, and IE 6 (which doesn’t even support PNG alpha transparency) still has a significant userbase, due to Vista being such a flop. And at the same time that Microsoft is coming out with its Acid2 passing browser, Firefox should be releasing a browser passing the Acid3 test (on which IE gets by far the lowest score of any modern browser, even in IE 8). It really sucks that Microsoft has to be dragged kicking and screaming to support all the standards that everyone else has been supporting forever. September 3, 2008 at 9:22 pm in reply to: Perfect Dark for the Virtual Console? #83975 Kevin GParticipant Unlike the talents from LucasArts who abandoned ship, the talents from Rare did not remain talents afterwards. They John Romeroed a bit. September 3, 2008 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Perfect Dark for the Virtual Console? #83964 Kevin GParticipant Rare’s downfall was marked the same way LucasArts was: all the talented people were quitting and forming their own companies. July 21, 2008 at 9:07 pm in reply to: I wrote a poem. #82551 Kevin GParticipant I was writing a poem about golf earlier, but I couldn’t think of anything that rhymes with “John Grisham”. I’m guessing that’s a common problem for golf poets, though. July 16, 2008 at 7:44 pm in reply to: Arrested Development…worth it? #82409 Kevin GParticipant I was going to share my Pop Secret with you, but FORGET IT! July 7, 2008 at 9:48 pm in reply to: The Torchwood Spoilers Thread #82150 Kevin GParticipant “completist” July 1, 2008 at 1:05 pm in reply to: The Torchwood Spoilers Thread #81917 Kevin GParticipant AN A+ START June 4, 2008 at 6:19 am in reply to: Did you see Doctor Mario? – Spoilers! #81026 Kevin GParticipant I find it interesting how much the Mario Bros series has ended up influenced by its repurposing of Doki Doki Panic. Most of Luigi and Peach’s early characterization was defined by the game. Snifits, Shyguys, Pokeys, and Bob-ombs have become regular enemies and Birdo has made appearances in the party-type games. Doors, picking up and throwing items, keys, vertical levels, themed worlds, ice platforms, and quicksand all arguably originated from it. That’s quite a big impact considering Sub-con has never been mentioned again. I’d talk about Zelda 2’s influence, but I didn’t like it that much and thus I don’t know as much about it and haven’t played it very much. I guess it was the first to add some RPG elements like magic, more varied terrain like towns and caves, and Shadow Link. And there have been a few side-scrolling areas in later games. I’m looking at Wikipedia and it says “More complex plot and dialogue and NPCs and sidequests and the triforce of courage was introduced as well as its belonging to Link/appearing on the back of his hand and town names are names of characters in later games.” Also, the first Zelda’s brother decreed that all females born to the royal family be named Zelda in honor of her falling asleep and not waking up or something. I did not know that one, but I guess it explains alot. Author Replies Viewing 10 replies - 1 through 10 (of 10 total)
