Stop your blathering and get on the damn YouTube News Posted by Ian Symes on 27th January 2022, 12:05 Just a quick one to inform you that everyone’s favourite trio of loquacious lockdown live-streamers are back at it tonight. Rob Grant, Paul Jackson and Ed Bye are taking part in a live Red Dwarf themed Q&A and quiz on YouTube at 7pm GMT tonight. Hosted by Kevin Durham, the event is in aid of Richard’s House Children’s Hospice, and donations are being accepted here. Here’s the link to the YouTube stream, or you can watch it right here, assuming this embed works:
Second great revelation – Tracey Ullman introduced Rob Grant to the concept of smegma whilst eating soup in a Chinese restaurant at a wrap party for Three of a Kind.
Third revelation (of sorts) – There’ll probably be another one of these with Rob Grant’s great mate Doug Naylor at some point. Also, I really miss the lockdown commentaries.
It was fun to see them again. I couldn’t make Sunday afternoons when they were doing the lockdown commentaries so it was nice to be able to join in with this. As you’d expect the focus was on the good old days, and there was no mention of Rob’s buttski or any potential emanations therefrom. Hopefully the thing with Doug will come off and we’ll find out something about the way things stand, if we don’t get any news in the meantime.
That was fun! I think if it had been more widely publicised we would have had more people join and probably reached the goal during the stream. Still, ~£600 is a decent amount, and for a great cause. I miss the commentaries, more so now that all covid protections are being removed so I’ll have to hunker down even more for the foreseeable. Watching them on YouTube is enjoyable and I’m grateful they’re there, but not the same as joining in.
My favourite bit was when the host said you could donate £20 and ask the trio a question, and someone donated while Paul was complaining about having to scan a QR code to read a wine list in a Spanish restaurant. The host began reading the question out, and Paul, without missing a beat, just leant into the camera and yelled “FUCK OFF! I’m in the middle of an anecdote here!” and carried with his story! An actual glimpse at Angry Paul Jackson! Both hilarious and terrifying at the same time.
The Just Giving page has gone down from £1001.00 when I saw it a couple of hours after that £300something donation. :/ The host began reading the question out, and Paul, without missing a beat, just leant into the camera and yelled “FUCK OFF! I enjoyed Rob Grant laughing at silly Internet comments.
